SYLVIA SAYS:

Sylvia

Andrea's adoption its going to take a little longer than expected because the agency that the parents went to in the U.S. for the final documents found that their certification expired.  On the 10th of March they will know if they're approved again, if not they have to go to another agency. Andrea is fine, we are explaining as well as we can.  Meanwhile, her Dad is here in Tijuana Visiting for 5 days.

Everybody is doing well in school.  Gabriela is doing her social service here at Dorcas House and in the elementary school where the DH kids attend. One more Year to go and she will be graduating!

The kids will be on vacation for 15 days starting the 15th off April. We are planning to take them out 1 group each day to the park, interactive museum, Centro Cultural Tijuana, swimming lessons and a day at the beach.  All of these are free - we just have to pay for the lessons. We will pack a lunch and we will be all set.

Also we are ready for the I'AM Art's projects, and the performance of Walt Disney's "The Lion King"on the 25th of June. The kids from Lazaro Cardenas High School are teaching our children to do this musical. All of the children are going to perform.

On Ash Wednesday, Father Candelario had a small service for all of us.  The children were very attentive.

The Best Trip That Never Was

Suzanne talks about the March 5th visit:

"There were 8 of us who met up at the Cathedral.  The parking and the race at the Cathedral were no problem.  The problem was at the border: We went down to the border but could find no where to park.  We went to 4 different lots and toyed with idea of parking illegally at Plaza de Americas however, there were many signs threatening to tow.  I called the Mall Security folks and pleaded our case but the supervisor said he wouldn't allow it.  We probably could have gotten away with it but I didn't think it was the right thing to jeopardize people's car etc...so we all left.  I called Sylvia to explain the problem and of course she understood.  I have no idea what was in Tijuana that day to cause such a crowd. We are all hoping this will not be a trend but I have put  on my thinking cap regarding back-up plans.  I know you all have taken the trolley and so does Sylvi, so that could be an option.  Anyway,  I am not planning to change our routine based on this one incident and will hope we don't run into the same problem."

UPCOMING EVENT

Hola Amigos!

Please join us on the next visit to Dorcas House in Tijuana on Saturday, April 9th.  The children love return visitors and newcomers alike and always look forward to our visits.  We'll meet in the St. Paul's Cathedral parking lot ( 2728 Sixth Ave ) at 11:30 AM and return to San Diego by 6:00PM.  We carpool down to the border parking lot, cross the border on foot  and grab some lunch at our favorite outdoor restaurant.  After that, we take a group taxi to the foster home where we visit and play with the children.  It will be a fun day you will never forget.  Please plan to bring about $20 per person (or $40 per family) to cover the cost of transportation and insurance (no one is turned away for lack of funds).  Expect to spend another $5 to $10 per person on lunch and incidentals.  A valid passport is required.  Please contact me, Suzanne Warren, by Thursday March 3rd at sharp.healthcare@sbcglobal.net (my preference) or at home 619-437-8700 to let me know if you plan to attend.  If you are unfamiliar with the Dorcas House ministry, please visit Dorcas House Friends for more information.

Thank you 2
