CONVENTION NEWS

Website for the 2012 Diocesan Convention now live

Clergy, delegates, vendors and guests may now access the 2012 Convention website for information, forms, deadline schedule and registration at http://convention2012.diocgc.

The diocesan staff is excited to offer the online registration as an alternative to "snail mail" hard copy registration forms. Registrants are given the opportunity to pay online, or simply register online and send in a check. This latter option will aid parishes that cover registration costs for the parish delegates. Of course, the standard downloadable form is available to complete and mail to the diocesan office.

Additional information, photos, announcements, or changes will be added as needed.

The 41st Diocesan Convention will be held February 2-4, 2012 at Christ Church Cathedral in Mobile, Alabama.

"Before Now - A Short History of Beckwith" now available

Submitted by Bishop Philip M. Duncan, II

Bishop Duncan + Bishops

The Rev. Albert Kennington has given us a glimpse into the past through the eyes of those who lived, worked, played and prayed as they embraced their time at Beckwith Camp and Conference Center. As in the past, this special place on Weeks Bay continues to serve our Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast faithfully and meaningfully. Those who have gone before us have left us a legacy to pass on to those who are now using this "gem" as well as those who are yet to find their place within the unfinished story and history which is yet to be. My thanks to Fr. Kennington for making this remembrance both an interesting and an enjoyable read.

You may order your copy by sending a $12.00 check to Beckwith-10400 Beckwith Lane, Fairhope, AL 36532 with your shipping address included or,call 251-928-7844 to order by phone with your credit card.

BECKWITH'S WISH LIST - From time to time, Beckwith produces a "wish list" (other than financial needs!) that
they would love to receive. The current list includes  bicycles, safe ladders, and trampoline (preferably
with safety net). If anyone has any of these laying around with no need, please contact Massey Gentry at
Beckwith Camp and Conference Center (251) 928-7844.

At the end of the calendar year- which marks the beginning of the liturgical year-we somehow, despite our best intentions to slow down and enjoy the season, shift into high gear.  "The reason for the season," we sigh to ourselves as we buzz about doing things that seem more important than they are. With these thoughts in mind, you are most cordially invited to join us for a pre-Thanksgiving/Advent "Quiet Day of Meditation and Reflection" on Saturday, November 19, 2011, 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 pm Central Daylight Savings Time at the Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat (BTSR) located at 107 Holy Trinity Rd., Fort Mitchell, AL 36856. The retreat is sponsored by Nativity's Daughters of the King*. Cost is $45 which includes lunch.   Details here

* Editor's Note: To allay any questions that may come up over semantics, Nativity's DOK chose to keep the Daughters of the King name rather than changing to the new diocesan group, The Episcopal Community.
