DIOCESAN EMERGENCY RESPONSE UNIT TRAVELS TO AID TORNADO VICTIMS The Rev. Ray Walden recently drove the Diocesan Emergency Response Unit to the areas struck by the tornados to aid in disaster relief. MONICA'S FIRST MARKET DAY A GREAT SUCCESS The first Market at Saint Monica's, Saturday, May 7 was a huge success! We opened promptly at 8 am with 10 vendors selling everything from grass fed beef to homemade candles. A steady stream of customers kept the vendors busy until closing at noon. The St. Francis Guild is sponsoring a "Pet CPR & Emergency Measures Class" on Saturday, June 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parish house. The course will be taught by Barbara Robinson, LVT of the Animal ER of Mobile. The course will include informative lecture and slide presentations followed by hands-on experience in basic CPR for dogs and cats as well as practice in techniques to help stabilize the animal until it can be taken to a vet. More DIOCESE OF ALABAMA/CENTRAL GULF COAST PARISHES PARTNER TO AID CULLMAN When parishioners at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Brewton, AL, in the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast, learned of the tornado destruction in North Alabama, they quickly called to check on one of their former parishioner - now a priest in Trussville. "We were fine," reported the Rev. Aaron Raulerson, rector of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Trussville. But that phone call resulted in a partnership between the two parishes and Grace Episcopal Church in Cullman, AL, to provide urgently needed relief supplies to the storm-damaged Cullman community.
