WOMEN OF VISION RETREAT

Sponsored by the Episcopal Church Women (ECW), the Women of Vision retreat is scheduled for July 29-31, 2011 at Beckwith Camp and Conference Center. This is a unique opportunity to empower women for ministry in all areas of their lives. The conference leaders are Cecil Williamson of the Diocese of Alabama and Joy Tway from our diocese. DIOCESAN EMERGENCY RESPONSE UNIT TRAVELS TO AID TORNADO VICTIMS 

The Rev. Ray Walden recently drove the Diocesan Emergency Response Unit to the areas struck by the tornados to aid in disaster relief.   In preparation, John Briscione, Senior Warden of Holy Cross in Pensacola restocked the trailer and donated new paint and graphics.  More...

 

 

ST. MONICA'S FIRST MARKET DAY A GREAT SUCCESS

The first Market at Saint Monica's, Saturday, May 7 was a huge success!  We opened promptly at 8 am with 10 vendors selling everything from grass fed beef to homemade candles. A steady stream of customers kept the vendors busy until closing at noon.  Photo link and full story here...

 

 

 

REDEEMER'S ST. FRANCIS GUILD OFFERING NEW CLASS ON TREATING PET EMERGENCIES 

If an emergency medical situation arose, would you know how to save your pet's life? The St. Francis Guild is sponsoring a "Pet CPR & Emergency Measures Class" on Saturday, June 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parish house. The course will be taught by Barbara Robinson, LVT of the Animal ER of Mobile. The course will include informative lecture and slide presentations followed by hands-on experience in basic CPR for dogs and cats as well as practice in techniques to help stabilize the animal until it can be taken to a vet. HOLY CROSS, PENSACOLA YOUTH PARTICIPATE IN "30 HOUR FAMINE"

Nine youth and 3 adults locked into the church over the weekend of April 29-30th for a mock 30 Hour Famine. Our students "loved hungry" for 30 hours and raised $338 to help feed and care for hungry children and families around the world through World Vision.  More...

 

 

BROTHERHOOD CHAMPAGNE BREAKFAST RAISES $800  

The Christ Church Chapter of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew sponsored the tenth annual Champagne Breakfast for the parish after the Easter Vigil. It was the fourth event that the Brotherhood has hosted.  More

 

 

DIOCESE OF ALABAMA/CENTRAL GULF COAST PARISHES PARTNER TO AID CULLMAN 

When parishioners at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Brewton, AL, in the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast, learned of the tornado destruction in North Alabama, they quickly called to check on one of their former parishioner - now a priest in Trussville.

 

"We were fine," reported the Rev. Aaron Raulerson, rector of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Trussville. But that phone call resulted in a partnership between the two parishes and Grace Episcopal Church in Cullman, AL, to provide urgently needed relief supplies to the storm-damaged Cullman community.  More...

  

 

 

ST. LUKE'S, MOBILE SEEKING A PART-TIME YOUTH DIRECTOR

Weekly Webinar Series on Domestic Violence continues weekly through June 15, 2011

"Growing Safe and Healthy Congregations and Families in the Church" is a webinar series designed to increase the capacity to effectively respond to and prevent domestic and sexual violence and abuse in the life of our churches and communities. Each webinar will address a different topic from a theological perspective as well as provide best practices and resources. Interaction with the presenters will be possible. This series will educate, equip and inspire both clergy and laity to join the movement to end sexual and domestic violence and abuse. Offered by Justice and Witness Ministries of the United Church of Christ and the Faith- Trust Institute.   Although some seminars have already aired, there is still time to participate. Ecumenical participation is welcome.

Sewanee Church Music Conference 

The 61st Sewanee Church Music Conference will be held July 11-17, 2011 at The University of the South and the DuBose Conference Center in Monteagle, Tennessee. The Sewanee Conference is the oldest and largest Episcopal music conference in the country and can accept only 150 registrants. Two full scholarships are available to first-time attendees. Keith Shafer, Director of Music and Organist of Saint Paul's Church, Augusta, Georgia is the Director.
