A MESSAGE FROM THE BISHOP
April 28, 2011
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We are all aware of the great tragedy of the tornadoes that have hit throughout the south. I have been in contact with a number of the bishops in the affected areas, and as we have seen and heard, everywhere these tornadoes struck are devastated. Many people have called asking what they can do. Let me suggest the following: If contributions are to be made, please send them: 1) to ERD - www.er-d.org (to donate online) or P.O. Box 7058, Merrifield, VA 22116-7058 (to mail checks) 2) the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast, designating the funds for Tornado Relief and the Diocese you wish your gift forwarded P.O. Box 13330, Pensacola, FL 32591 3) directly to the diocese in the affected areas: Diocese of Alabama 521 North 20th Street Birmingham, AL 35203 (205) 715-2060 www.dioala.org Diocese of Atlanta 2744 Peachtree Road, NW Atlanta, GA 30305 (404) 601-5320 www.episcopalatlanta.org Diocese of East Tennessee 814 Episcopal School Way Knoxville, TN 37932 (865) 966-2110 www.etdiocese.net Diocese of Mississippi P. O. Box 23107 Jackson, MS 39225 www.dioms.org As news unfolds, we will have a better understanding of additional affected areas. Please keep the people who are first responders and workers entering these areas in your prayers, as well as the victims and their families. I ask that you include in your prayers over the next two Sundays, special intentions for the victims and those who seek to bring relief in this time of tragedy. May God bless us all as we gather this Sunday and celebrate the resurrection of our Lord.
I am faithfully yours in Christ, The Rt. Rev. Philip M. Duncan, II Bishop of the Central Gulf Coast |
