"Whenever this group gets together, another brick in the wall of misunderstanding and distrust is shattered, leading to peace and shalom." - Barbara Paper, a founding member

The Mobile Christian-Jewish Dialogue begins its 37th year by inviting you to hear Fr. Dennis McManus speak on the subject, "Christian-Jewish Relations in the U. S. Today."  Presently, Fr. McManus is theological advisor to the Archbishop of New York. He brings a wealth of experience to this presentation, including his service as consultant on Jewish Affairs to the U S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Smilow Chair in Catholic-Jewish Relations at the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, D. C., and vice-chair of the Stimulus Foundation of New York, a publisher of books dealing with Jewish-Christian dialogue. He has written and spoken widely on the subject of Christian-Jewish relations and has taught at Georgetown University.

"Taking a class with him is like drinking from a fire hose. You will be simultaneously crushed by the depth of your own ignorance and inspired beyond all belief to remedy the situation." Student's comments on ratemyprofessors.com

Fr. McManus' lecture will be the first of two lectures on this subject. The second lecture, scheduled for September 13, 2011, will be by Rabbi James Rudin, Senior Interreligious Advisor to the American Jewish Committee.

The Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast is a long-time official sponsor of the Christian-Jewish Dialogue. All programs are open to all, without admission cost.

NOTE: This is the CJD's first program of our 37th year, and is a major lecture.  College faculty members in Mobile are prepared to give "extra credit" to their students for attending this.
