St. James, Eufaula

EUFAULA, AL - St. James, Eufaula, served a record number of plates during the annual Shrove Tuesday Spaghetti (that's right, no pancakes) Supper. 717 plates were served between 5:00 and 7:30, with 100 gallons of sauce, 125 pounds of pasta, salad and desert, eat-in and take-out. It is much anticipated yearly community event in Eufaula, except that our Baptist friends sometimes ask why we couldn't schedule it on another day, because they have already scheduled something on that day!

PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA - As part of our "taking on in Lent," St. Andrew's, Panama City, recently hosted a baby shower to gather items for expectant mothers ages 10-17 at the Pregnancy Resource Center. The evening began with guests enjoying scrumptious finger foods and fruit punch. The refreshment table was decorated with a colorful upside down umbrella and a baby shower balloon. Guests brought diapers, blankets, towels, onesies, sleepers, outfits, tiny shoes, and many other baby items. The items will be placed in a store at the Pregnancy Resource Center.

The expectant mothers earn points for participating in parenting and informational classes at the center and use their points to purchase items for their babies. After the refreshment and get acquainted time, representatives from the center shared some of their ministry experiences and informed us of some immediate and ongoing ministry needs. St. Andrew's is grateful for the opportunity to provide support to the Pregnancy Resource Center.

Episcopal Church Women, Holy Cross Pensacola reorganizes group

Submitted by Betty Enfinger; written by Lorrie Wilkinson

L to R: Lorrie Wilkinson, Pam Maret, Jane Briscione, Fay Scordato

PENSACOLA, FLORIDA - Our vision for all women of the Episcopal Church is that we become a vibrant blend of all ages, coming together as a peacemaking, healing part of the Church.

We aspire to be a "God spark" - shining and sharing the love of Christ.

We've begun: 32 members of which 11 reorganized the group, 17 prepared the way and were introduced to the Bible Study, 20 are ready to begin the evening Bible Study, and 6 are ready for the daytime Bible Study!! We've organized committees for Women's Night Out, Women's Retreat, Women's Sunday, Sponsoring a VBS Dinner, and ECW Cookbook. We've ratified Bylaws and elected officers: Lorrie Wilkinson, President; Pam Maret, Secretary, Jane Briscione, Treasurer, and Fay Scordato, Vice President. Julie Ruengert is ready to facilitate our Bible Study.

While many equate ECW with fellowship, social events, and domestic duties - that is the ECW of our mothers' generation. This generation is a group of women with varied skills and talents that extend far beyond the confines of the kitchen. While you will see many of us doing fellowship and social events, look for the majority of us assisting other valuable ministries within the church.
