Holy Cross, Pensacola
| Club 55 of Holy Cross, Pensacola celebrates Oktoberfest
Submitted by Betty Enfinger, Coastline Communicator Holy Cross, Pensacola
The Golden Oldies of Holy Cross celebrated Oktoberfest with a luncheon of authentic German foods on October 19. Our "guest chefs" prepared sauerbraten, brats & kraut, stuffed cabbage, white & red cabbage salads, potato salad, and apple strudel. Attendees were encouraged to dress "Bavarian" and were entertained with oompah music and storytelling. Club 55 is a fellowship event for our senior members, which is dedicated to good food & good fun. We meet the third Tuesday of the month for a luncheon that may include a tour or guest speaker. The luncheon menu is quite varied and always delicious. The members decide on specific cuisines and volunteer as "guest" chefs. |
Church of the Redeemer, Mobile
| Noah's Park Event a great success at Redeemer, Mobile
Submitted by Nancy Buchanon, Coastline Communicator Redeemer, Mobile
Our 3rd annual Noah's Park was our biggest and most successful
year. It's safe to say that we raised at
least 3-4 times the funds that we have in previous years (final tally is not
available yet). This means that we will
be able to expand our animal ministry in ways that we were unable to
before. In addition, and just as
importantly, we had FUN!

Episcopal Church Foundation
| Vestry Papers now online!
By Nancy Davidge, Editor ECF Vital Practices
All of us at the Episcopal Church Foundation are excited about the launch of ecfvp.org, the new online home of Vestry Papers.
For 15 years, the Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF) and Vestry Papers
have provided vestry members with spiritually grounded, practical
resources to help vestries build healthy congregations in service to
God's mission. Over the years, Vestry Papers has won numerous awards,
but more importantly, it has prepared vestries to respond to the
ever-changing needs of the Church.
And now it is our turn to respond to those ever-changing needs. Moving
online lets us expand our offerings to include more voices, more
sharing, as well as 'at your fingertip' access to audio, video, and
print resources designed to inspire, affirm, and inform church leaders
in their work.
The site also encourages conversation and community building between
and among the ECF Vital Practices team and our readers. To join the
conversation, register
then use the comment fields throughout the site to share your thoughts,
ask questions, or post experiences, resources, and best practices.
As you explore the site, you will find:
ˇ The award winning publication Vestry Papers, both new issues and recent Vestry Papers archives.
ˇ Vital Posts - daily blog posts discussing news and views about faith
and leadership; readers are invited to join the conversation by posting
comments and questions.
ˇ Fieldwork - first person stories exploring vital lessons of change
and leadership told in a serial form, giving readers the opportunity to
follow along as faith groups try on new approaches to challenges
encountered in their ministry.
ˇ Your Turn - readers share best practices, resources, and materials.
ˇ Tools - a compilation of practical, hands-on resources by and for congregational leaders.
ˇ VP Talks - hosted, online chats with experts and peers beginning
Wednesday, October 20 at 8:00 pm eastern time with "Eat Pray Love: A
Menu for Vestry Leadership," a live web chat with the Rev. Angela
Emerson, the new president of The Episcopal Network for Stewardship.
As I begin my new ministry as editor of ECF Vital Practices, I look
forward to working in partnership with all of you to make this new
incarnation of Vestry Papers as valuable a resource as its predecessor. I
welcome hearing from you either through the website or by email, editor@episcopalfoundation.org.
Faithfully,
Nancy Davidge

Office of Public Affairs The Episcopal Church
| Innovative partnership aims to assist Episcopal churches to "go green" Subsidies available to congregationsIn an innovative venture that benefits congregations of all sizes,
The Episcopal Church has partnered with GreenFaith, a leading national
religious environmental group, to assist churches' efforts to "go
green." Many congregations have expressed the desire to be
environmentally "green" and as ecologically responsible as possible. As a
result, the collaboration between GreenFaith and The Episcopal Church
provides a means for that effort. To participate in the program, GreenFaith offers a sliding scale fee,
based on congregational size. To mark the launch of this collaboration,
the Economic/Environmental Affairs Office and GreenFaith are
underwriting 50% of the tuition of 30 churches nationwide, enabling
selected churches to enroll for a total discounted cost of $250 - $750. GreenFaith will offer a free hour-long webinar to help congregational
leadership understand the program and to answer questions and address
concerns. Click here for full story and webinar schedules
