Classes

A Model for Mature Masculinity/Femininity: King/Queen, Warrior, Magician and Lover   Instructor: Mario Campa NASP FFSCt.

St. Monica's, Cantonment, is offering a unique personal growth opportunity.  The purpose of this class is to learn a Model of Mature Masculinity or Femininity that provides one with an inner map of a Man or Woman's Fourfold Powers.  The Fourfold Powers of King or Queen, Warrior, Magician and Lover provide a manual for personal growth and development through integration and wholeness.
As an individual matures their powers, they will be better partners, parents, family members and co-workers.
Incorporating these six virtues into one's life helps the man or woman to direct his or her own life and to enrich relationships as a son or daughter, husband or wife, father or mother, co-worker and community participant.
The other three Powers--Warrior, Magician and Lover have polar opposites and virtues as well.  As one becomes aware of the healthy functions of the Four Powers then one can access each power as needed.
This six hour class may be offered all in one day, two three-hour blocks or three two-hour blocks.  A minimum of 10 participants are needed (maximum 15).  The cost is $50 per person.
Call Kathy Vail at 494-3083 to sign up.  The facilitator, Mario Campa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and has a Masters Degree in Biblical Studies and a Masters Degree in Pastoral Studies.  He has been a clinical counselor for the past 17 years.

Retreats, Conferences and Pilgrimages outside our diocese

One is a Whole Number!

As Solo Flight gathers for its 20th consecutive year, the coordinators are discerning the future and looking to conduct visioning sessions centering on being single in The Episcopal Church.

"Solo Flight Episcopalians - single, divorced and widowed of all ages - have been gathering for a weekend of personal and spiritual growth, fellowship, networking, worship, outreach, evangelism, and fun for two decades," noted Dr. Kay Collier McLaughlin, founder of Solo Flight Ministries With Single Adults and Solo Flight Conferences. "This year, we are discerning together where God is calling The Episcopal Church in general and Solo Flight in particular in terms of ministry with single adults, and if the Solo Flight ministry for single adults continues."

The 2010 Solo Flight National Conference for Single Adults will be September 3-6 at the Roslyn Retreat Center, Richmond, Virginia.

Greetings!

Oil is projected to gradually move in toward the west end of our diocesan beaches.  However, updates regarding the oil spill have been issued from our cities on the beaches of the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast and so far the beaches are clear for several more days.

Even with the seemingly optimist, albeit short-term, bouncy news from our tourist industry, I feel as though I am witnessing a slow death of a life as I read the news of the oil creeping towards us. Yesterday's meditation from Forward Day by Day reminds us of a new life to come. May we have faith that this is true.

God has made everything suitable for its time; moreover he has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end....

...That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already is; and God seeks out what has gone by.

By Dick Hooper, Province IV President,
Brotherhood of St. Andrew

The National Council of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew named General Arthur Poillon Associate Field Secretary for Life in the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast for his outstanding service as Diocesan Coordinator.  "Brother Jake" was largely responsible for the formation of Brotherhood chapters at St. James, Fairhope AL, and St. Paul's, Daphne AL.

Although Jake recently retired as Diocesan Coordinator, Dr. Dick Hooper, President of Province IV, told his mentor and friend at the principal service of St. James Parish on May 30 that he was too valuable a brother to "fade away."   Brother Dick urged him to remain available as a resource for the Brotherhood Chapters in the diocese.

Brother Jake has been active at the national level of the Brotherhood and arranged a special trip for the national council to visit and lay a wreath on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier at their national meeting in Arlington VA in 2007. He also helped Brother Dick organize the first Council meeting of Province IV in 2009.
Brother Robert Kreiner replaces Brother Jake as Diocesan Coordinator.
