Greetings!
This week, May 23-29 is National Hurricane Preparedness Week. Click this National Weather Service link to reach a website that tells you what action you should take to reduce the effects of a hurricane disaster. Be sure your emergency form has been completed and is on file at your church. The webpage with oil crisis information is updated daily. Some of the newer links added include a live feed of the spill from remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), as well as an excellent pastoral resource offered by the Eco-justice office of the National Council of Churches. Page 2 of the document offers some interesting facts about the Gulf of Mexico as well as downloads for group study and action that can be adapted for use on the Gulf Coast. Peace. Classes
A
Model for Mature Masculinity/Femininity:
King/Queen, Warrior, Magician and Lover Instructor: Mario Campa NASP FFSCt.
St. Monica's, Cantonment, is offering a unique personal growth
opportunity. The purpose of this class
is to learn a Model of Mature Masculinity or Femininity that provides one with
an inner map of a Man or Woman's Fourfold Powers. The Fourfold Powers of King or Queen,
Warrior, Magician and Lover provide a manual for personal growth and
development through integration and wholeness. As an
individual matures their powers, they will be better partners, parents, family
members and co-workers. For example, the true King or Queen is neither
tyrannical nor a weakling but empowered by following well tested virtues such
as order, blessing, calmness, nurturing, stewardship and sacrifice. Incorporating
these six virtues into one's life helps the man or woman to direct his or her
own life and to enrich relationships as a son or daughter, husband or wife, father
or mother, co-worker and community participant. The other three Powers--Warrior, Magician and Lover have polar opposites
and virtues as well. As one becomes
aware of the healthy functions of the Four Powers then one can access each
power as needed. This six
hour class may be offered all in one day, two three-hour blocks or three two-hour
blocks. A minimum of 10 participants are
needed (maximum 15). The cost is $50 per
person. Call
Kathy Vail at 494-3083 to sign up. The facilitator, Mario Campa is a Licensed
Clinical Social Worker, and has a Masters Degree in Biblical Studies and a
Masters Degree in Pastoral Studies. He
has been a clinical counselor for the past 17 years.

One is a whole number!
[May 6, 2010] As Solo Flight gathers for its 20th consecutive year, the coordinators are discerning the future and looking to conduct visioning sessions centering on being single in The Episcopal Church.
"Solo Flight Episcopalians - single, divorced and widowed of all ages - have been gathering for a weekend of personal and spiritual growth, fellowship, networking, worship, outreach, evangelism, and fun for two decades," noted Dr. Kay Collier McLaughlin, founder of Solo Flight Ministries With Single Adults and Solo Flight Conferences. "This year, we are discerning together where God is calling The Episcopal Church in general and Solo Flight in particular in terms of ministry with single adults, and if the Solo Flight ministry for single adults continues."
The 2010 Solo Flight National Conference for Single Adults will be September 3-6 at the Roslyn Retreat Center, Richmond, Virginia.
