Greetings!

This week's e-news is rather full and may take more than one sitting to get through it all.  There is a lot to report!

Be sure to check the oil spill webpage, as more links to news have been added in addition to volunteer information, maps, and facebook pages that give even more detail.

In last week's e-news you were given links to two pieces of liturgy written for the Gulf of Mexico as a result of the oil spill:

  • A Prayer for the Gulf of Mexico, by the Rev. Canon Beverly Gibson. Over the past few days the prayers and/or litany have been discovered on the following webpages as well as in several dioceses and parishes in other parts of the world!
Have a good weekend.  Sorry this is a bit late....

Peace.

Episcopal Relief & Development (ERD) receives 4-star rating from Charity Navigator

Submitted by Eugene Johnston, Province IV ERD Coordinator

Episcopal Relief & Development is pleased to announce that it has received its third consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for sound fiscal management.  Awarded annually, Charity Navigator ratings reflect an organization's accountability, transparency and quantifiable results in comparison with other non-profit organizations.

"Only 14% of the charities we rate have received at least 3 consecutive 4-star evaluations,"said Ken Berger, Charity Navigator's President and Chief Executive Officer.  This rating indicates that Episcopal Relief & Development consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America.

This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Episcopal Relief & Development from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.    Full story

Commission on Cursillo holds successful meeting

April 17, Epiphany Crestview - The Commission on Cursillo carpooled its members from different corners of the Diocese to gather for fellowship, evaluation of this ministry, planning and work.

Under the leadership of Bob Whitson (St Mark's Troy), chair, the Commission recognized what has gone well and what needed improvement. As reported at the diocesan convention, the focus is on three major parts: maintaining and improving the weekend retreats (we do well in that area already); outreach to parishes which have inactive or no Cursillo presence or an inactive Fourth Day Community---we will visit parishes, share the stories, demonstrate the mission statement of "Growing Christ-centered Leaders"; and, being good stewards of the contributions of time, talent, and treasure being invested in this ministry.
