Learning Manners is Mandatory for Chinese Schoolchildren

Chinese Schoolchildren

The rearing of children in China has been in the news a lot lately between Amy Chua's book, "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" and the more recent information that China has made it mandatory for  its schoolchildren to receive manners education.  While we may not agree with Ms. Chua's parenting style, we do whole-heartedly concur with the nation of China that all American children should be exposed to this kind of education for a number reasons.  First, we are a globalized society now and as such a greater tolerance, patience and understanding of others is imperative. Second, technology has damaged our interpersonal skills and required us to restore our ability to communicate, relate and interact in person. Third, civility and common courtesy have been thrown out the window in favor of loud outbursts, rushing and rash behavior.  It's time to integrate this education into the schools, to encourage our children to be more thoughtful and mindful human beings.

Table Setting
Greetings!

Welcome to 2011!  One month almost complete and the New Year's resolutions are in full swing.  Gyms are filled with people sweating off the holiday weight, the diet commercials are a plenty and personal organizers' phones are ringing off the hook. A new year always brings the promise of change for the better, an opportunity to finally cross off the laundry list of personal (and professional) items we have put on the back burner once and for all. So how can we help facilitate this transformation? What can we provide that will allow you to not only feel comfortable within your own skin, but will also benefit you with the tools to put others at ease?

The answer is the new Beverly Hills Manners App for the iPhone (and soon the Android). Dubbed "an etiquette coach in the palm of your hand", it is chock-full of information to help navigate any situation with aplomb and ease.  Valentine's Day is coming up, need a refresher on dating do's and don'ts? Baby's first play date is scheduled and wondering whether to offer to bring snacks for your host?  Recently lost a job and want to guarantee you'll ace the interview with your prospective dream employer? No problem, the Beverly Hills Manners App has all the information you will need to put your best foot forward with one touch of the finger! The only think this App can't do is help you lose weight, but we are working on that. Ha! Download it for free for a limited time only and let us know what you think!!

Now, as much as we are thrilled to announce our new App, nothing replaces the actual learning and application that is acquired through personal instruction.  Please visit the Classes section of our website to view the updated schedule of exciting programs we have to offer or call us to inquire about private tutorials.

Last, a good friend had a particularly rough year in 2010 and couldn't wait for it to end so she shared with me her mantra for the new year and I thought I would pass it along,"Here's to heaven in 2011!" May it be an inspiring and exciting year for all!!

Very best,
