Greetings!

This month we want to acknowledge the recent passing of etiquette expert, Elizabeth Post.  She was the granddaughter-in-law of manners maven, Emily Post.  She took over the helm of the family business in 1965 after Emily died. Elizabeth, or "Libby" as she was known, was full of common sense, open-minded, fair and flexible.  She kept the core messages of manners alive: possess a good attitude, be respectful and show consideration towards everyone. She believed that etiquette was never about being "restrictive or unpleasant" rather it was meant to "help smooth the path between people and better relationships."

As we celebrated National Etiquette Week in mid-May, we discovered that Libby Post's words still ring loud and clear, especially in today's harried world when manners and social mores have almost been forgotten.  After all, not a day goes by without encountering some form of annoyance or rude behavior that causes a rift in our relationships. How we choose to handle these situations and circumstances becomes the true test of our character.  Are we able to rise above the fray?  Can we give someone the benefit of the doubt?  Do we take the time to think before we speak?  Can we take responsibility for our actions?  These are the challenges we face on a daily basis.

Beverly Hills Manners is doing our part to prepare those, young and old, with the skills to communicate more effectively and guarantee more successful relationships both personally and professionally.  Join us for a class or inquire about private instruction and discover how we can best facilitate your needs and achieve your goals.

Happy Memorial Day!
