What is the "Secret Sauce" to Successful Children?

Secret Sauce

Waiting lists for preschools.  College applications gone mad.  Parents scrambling to give their kids the best of everything.  All these have become, for better or worse, commonplace phenomena nowadays.  But in the race to the top, we may have forgotten a crucial component, MANNERS.

While submitting our children to increasingly rigorous schedules and demands, we have lost sight of the importance of teaching our children basic social skills and common courtesies so that they may lead balanced and successful lives.  The "Secret Sauce" is in the manners.  These life-long, commonsense guidelines help us to know how to behave in any situation and allow us to get along with others and thrive.  Provide your child with the opportunity to tap into these powerful tools for life.

"Introductory Course" for Children

Introductory Course

McCormick & Schmick's - Beverly Hills
Saturday, April 12, 2008
11:00am - 2:00pm
Ages 6-12

The "Introductory Course" provides an overview into the world of manners and is full of interaction and practice for your child.  Children are instructed in all aspects of  etiquette and    protocol while developing fundamental character-building traits such as respect, compassion and common courtesies.  Through acquiring and practicing these indispensable life skills, children gain more confidence and increase self-esteem.

In addition to the instruction, a formal dining tutorial portion is taught covering all rules of table and dining etiquette.  Children learn how to set a basic table, the proper way to use their utensils, how to manage specific types of foods and beverages, and how to initiate and participate in conversation during an actual 5-course meal.  A complimentary BHM embroidered t-shirt or tank is also provided as part of the enrollment.  Program topics include:

  • Etiquette vs. Manners
  • First Impressions
  • Greetings/Handshake/Eye Contact
  • Art of Introductions
  • Telephone Etiquette
  • Punchbowl Etiquette
