Manners and Mother Nature

March is a month of awakening as we welcome the beginning of the Spring season, officially arriving on March 21st. It is a time where we rediscover the beauty of nature both surrounding us and inside of ourselves.  The rain has finally stopped falling and the weather has warmed to a pleasant temperature. All of the sudden we yearn to put on our shorts and head for the outdoors for some Vitamin D.  New life has once again started to bloom and we pause in awe of such majesty.

When we think about the month of March, we think of the festivities surrounding St. Patrick’s Day and the beautiful green color of Ireland.  In our March issue of Impressions, we are taking a cue from our Irish friends and celebrating the “green” of Mother Earth a month before it’s official celebration on April 22nd.  We realize the value of our magnificent planet and the responsibility we each have in being good stewards to planet earth.  We have been spoiled with the beauty we have inherited and the time is now that we begin to pay attention and do what we can to preserve our great land.  However, we must be careful not to beat ourselves up if we cannot observe all of the ways in which we may save our environment.  It is more realistic to take one or two actions that resonate for us to make a difference for it is the thought and intention behind those actions that will be emulated by our children and have an impact on our environment for years to come.

Understanding our county’s Irish heritage benefits all of us.  March 17th marks the date when across our nation many cities will be celebrating this special festival and it is a delight for our children to participate in making shamrocks for mother and little leprechauns for dads. Ireland is a magical and enchanting land whose traditions and heritage grew from the beauty of their land.  They have always placed a premium on protecting their environment while at the same time balancing the growth of industry.

Below is an article on global warming to further aid you in educating your children. There are countless articles on the subject that seem to fall on both sides of the aisle.  Governmental and politicians (non-science) promote global warming whereas the climatologists (scientists) disagree stating that these views are based on opinions rather than any kind of sound scientific proof. Your debate – you decide.  Have fun!
