In the fullness of time
This week I finally finished a book that I started reading months ago, GOD HAS A DREAM: A Vision of Hope for Our Time by Desmond Tutu. The final chapter is titled "In the fullness of time" taken from St. Paul's letter to the Galatians, a phrase meaning that in God's plan things happen just when they need to happen. God's timing is perfect timing and God's timing is most definitely not our timing.
Tutu begins the chapter by describing a favorite cartoon, which shows God looking rather distraught with the caption, "I think I have lost my copy of the divine plan." (p.113) At times it can look as if God has indeed lost his copy of the plan - so many things going so very wrong in our world. It seems as if we never learn. Wars continue. Poverty continues. Hatred continues. Prejudice continues. Abuse, oppression, and injustice continue. We cry out, "How long, O Lord? How long?" But...God is indeed at work. It's just taking us a really long time to "get it right."
Despite the delay, we must remember that "God is transforming the world right now this very moment through us because God believes in us and because God loves us. " (p.128) We are called to be active agents of transformation in our world for good and for God! The "fullness of time" will indeed come. God's kingdom will be realized and it will be just the right time.
Peace,
Paul+

"Pencils for Children in Malawi" Campaign
NKUNGUZA VILLAGE - Trinity's Assisted Village in Malawi
Several Trinity members are visiting the Nkunguza Village in July and with your help would like to bring No. 2 Yellow Pencils for the children of the Village.
The village has a population of 676 people of which 413 are children, 194 are girls and 219 are boys. One-hundred and eighteen children are under the age of five, 76 are boys and 42 are girls. The village has 48 orphans. School supplies are in very short supply or non existence! Pencils would be much appreciated and a very practical gift to bring for the children.
To contribute to this campaign of collecting 450 No. 2 Yellow Pencils, purchase pencils, bring to Trinity and place in the "Pencils for Malawi" bin in the reception area by Sunday, June 17th.
Questions, contact Ruth Thurmond Scott at rscott@scarlettsystems.com or 609-279-6987.

Your Donations = Financial Support for Outreach! Fewer donations = Less Financial Support
Thanks to your donations and volunteer efforts, the Spring Rummage Sale on April 27-29 raised more than $29,000 -- an all-time high in recent years! Now, the drive for the Early Bird Holiday Sale has begun and we are asking for your donations so the traditional Fall Rummage Sale on Friday/Saturday October 26/27 will be equally successful. We need clothing (especially winter) for all tastes, ages and sizes, kitchenware and household goods, electronics, linens, small furniture, books and toys, and works of art. Highlights of the Early Bird Holiday Sale include gifts and decorations and the boutiques of clothes for women and men. During the Summer as you go through closets and drawers, clean out the garage or might be "down sizing", please think of Trinity Rummage and help make the Fall Sale a success! Donations are accepted 24/7 and can be left on the bench outside Pierce Hall. Donation receipts are available at the Reception Desk during church office hours. Thank you from the Rummage Committee

16th Annual Icon Workshop The Prosopon School of Iconology ( www.prosoponschool.org) will hold its 16th workshop at Trinity Church, from July 15th through July 20th. Students will create icons using the same techniques and materials that have been used for nearly two millennia, and will be introduced to the underlying theology and symbolism. Previous artistic experience is helpful but not required, as icon 'writing' is as much a form of contemplative prayer as a sacred art form. This year's workshop will once again be taught by Vladislav Andrejev, founder of the Prosopon School, with assistance from Trinity parishioner and workshop coordinator, Maureen McCormick. For more information and the registration form, click here. The deadline to register is June 6th.

Trinity Companions
Trinity's ministry to residents of Merwick Nursing Home has been rekindled, thanks to a number of you who have responded to the Outreach Committee's plea. Already, we hear of the pleasure that these visits bring to people who need companionship and conversation. The number of residents who attend the monthly Eucharist Service has greatly increased. The staff on the floor tell us that our visits have made a huge difference; we see it in the faces of the people we greet. Our visits to residents have been made during the day and early evening, privately in residents' rooms or in the dining room where all gather. We encourage visitors to briefly record their visits in a loose-leaf notebook at the front desk so as to inform other visitors about who was visited and when. Please let us know, if you have not already done so, of your interest in joining Trinity Companions. So far, the following wonderful people have become involved: From the Altar Guild, we thank Mary Alden and Donna Laessig. We thank those who have already volunteered to be companions: Loretta Cooper, Dulcie Bull, Judy Lowry, Leanne Gentile, Robin Gilbert, Thalia Mingo and Don Mann. We thank any of you who would still like to join Trinity Companions. You will find this ministry very rewarding
