Spring Rummage Sale Thanks You for helping us raise more than $28,000!
Trinity's Traditional Spring Rummage sale was a great success and continued the tradition of reaching out to the community and supporting the church's Outreach Programs. Again, our thanks for your generous donations of clothing, antiques for the Boutique, books, linens, electrical items, toys and housewares as the sale generated more than $28,000! And, of course, the sale would not have been possible without the help of more than 135 volunteers sorting items, setting up the rooms and displays, volunteering at the sale and clean-up effort after the sale and then again on Sunday afternoon. The sale was fun, brought members of the Parish together and was a day to remember.

Tool Sharpening During this Sunday Service Sunday, May 6th
Such a Deal! While Fr. Paul preaches, Your Tools Get Sharpened.
Trey and Hillary Delaney, the Grounds Committee's "Master Tool Sharpeners," will be on hand Sunday, May 6th from 8 a.m. to noon, to offer parishioners a rare service. If you've never had your garden tools sharpened, the Delaneys and their bench grinders will put a new edge on clippers, loppers, shovels, spades, machetes, edgers, trowels, almost any garden tool except saws. Mark your tools for easy identification and take them to the Circle. They'll be ready the same morning! Donations are welcome, to help offset the Grounds Committee's greater than usual tree and grass expenses this year.

A HUGE THANK YOU
As co-chairs of the Outreach Committee, we would like to express our enormous gratitude to John White, Rummage Chair, and his dedicated crew who worked very hard to make the Spring Rummage Sale so successful. We are going to name names. We would especially like to thank Margot Southerland, Mary Alden, Judy and Reilly Sharp, Phyllis Phox,Verena Edwards, Helene Davies, Barbara Rubano, David Wertz, Susan Macgregor, and Kay Mack. These folks not only work the weekend of the sale but year round every Friday to sort and store the items for the two sales each year.
As many of you know, much of the Outreach Budget is derived from the Spring and Fall Rummage Sales. Beneficiaries of the proceeds from this event include the Crisis Ministry, Housing Initiatives of Princeton, Trenton Children's Chorus, Cristosal in El Salvador, GAIA in Malawi and Urban Promise. We cannot begin to count the hours so many parishioners (and non-parishioners!) put in under the phenomenal direction of John White to pull this event off. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The One Table Café committee, via Ruth Scott, recently received the following note from one of our frequent guests for the One Table dinners. The guest is a resident of the Princeton Community Village and we have maintained her anonymity; however, once you read her note, you will understand why the One Table Café is so important to Trinity and to the Princeton community. Those of us who work with One Table Café feel truly blessed to know that we are making an impact in the lives of our friends and neighbors.
"Dear Ruth,
Many thanks for all your help with rides.
I would like to pass along a great big thank you to all who worked so hard at presenting the guests with the best possible experience on Friday, April 20, 2012. All the servers were solicitous and generous with time and energy. I am always so impressed with the elegant table setting and delicious dinners served to us. I also want to thank the beneficiary, who made it possible for me to attend the spiritual bread making class. It was awesome.
You satisfy our every need. Your committee has given hope to those who had no hope, love to those who had felt unloved, bread to satisfy their hunger, and an introduction to a peace found only through the fellowship of God and friends.
May God continue to bless you on your journey.
My appreciation for all that I have received.
Yours truly." |

Trinity Church Kitchen Protocol Kitchen use is frequent and varied with many different users from both in and outside the parish. Our Parish Life chair Carol Brooks Thomas, has kindly updated the Kitchen User protocol and so if you are booking the kitchen for use, please be conscious of the need to follow as directed in the notice below, which will also be posted in the kitchen. Please make your fellow committee members aware as they use the space so as to make using the kitchen smooth for all even if you cannot see who it is. Many thanks, Annie Thomas.
TRINITY CHURCH KITCHEN USERS 2012 FOOD Label Food: Please label all food with the name of the event or committee. Unlabeled food left in the kitchen may be used as needed for other events, given away, or discarded. Leftovers: Perishable: The refrigerator and freezers are used by many different groups for many different events. Please do not leave them full of leftovers after an event. Label leftovers for "community use," take them home, or give them away. Leftovers: Non-perishable: There is not a lot of food storage space in the kitchen. Leftover non-perishable food should be put in the "community food" cabinets, donated to a food pantry, given away, or stored at home for another event. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS Run the exhaust fans if you are creating any smoke or fumes. The smoke alarms are quite likely to go off if you don't. The switch is on the wall to the left of the door next to the stoves. Please put items away properly. The cabinets and drawers are labeled to make it easier for multiple groups and people to use the kitchen. Please take the time to put everything in the correct place. Kitchen knives go in the knife racks or labeled knife drawer only. Please do not put knives in with other tools in the tool drawers, pot of tools next to the stove, or in the dish-drainer. Wash and put away all utensils, dishes, pots, pans, flatware, etc. All dishes and flatware must be washed in the dishwasher (per health department regulations). The dishwasher should be empty and drained and the sinks and dish drainer empty and clean before you leave. There is no garbage disposal, so be sure no solids go down the drains. Please clean countertops and wipe up any spillage you have made on the stove or floor. Please do not leave dirty laundry in the kitchen. Each event or committee is responsible for its own laundry. Please wash and return tablecloths, dish towels, and cleaning cloths promptly; the next group using the kitchen may need them. Please take home any dishes or utensils which you have brought from home. If they remain in the kitchen they may be put in with other kitchen supplies or rummage. "Unclaimed" items should be put on the window sill until they are claimed. Check inventory. Please let the church administrator know if any supplies (paper goods, cleaning supplies, etc.) are running low. Please observe these health department regulations: The rear sink is for food preparation only. Do not use these sinks for washing hands or dishes. The sinks by the dishwasher are for cleaning pots and pans only. Do not use these sinks for washing hands or food. The small sink by the stoves is for washing hands only. Do not wash hands in the other sinks.

Introducing Trinity's Newest Ministry: The Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer shawls wrap, enfold, comfort and give solace to people who are dealing with illness, surgery or grief.
We are calling all knitters and wannabes to come join old friends and new friends at our monthly prayer shawl knit-a-thons held in members' homes. All are welcome who would enjoy knitting these easy therapeutic patterns, infusing your own prayers for recovery as you knit and then taking the shawls to the clergy for blessing before delivery.
We are asking and begging the congregation for names of anyone in the hospital or sick at home who might be comforted by receiving a cozy shawl accompanied by a card with a reading such as:
Every lovingly crafted stitch contains a special prayer,
That God will send his peace to you and keep you in his care.
Knitting Instructions:
- 3 skeins of Lion Brand Homespun Yarn - Michael's or Walmart
- Size 11 or 13 needles. Round needles work really well.
- Cast on 54, 57, 60 or 63 stitches or some multiple of 3.
- Knit 3, purl 3 to end of row.
- Turn and knit the purl and purl the knit.
- If you have 57 or 63 stitches, you'll begin every row with knit.
- A weave pattern will develop. Knit about 2 and 2/3 skeins in pattern. Use the rest of yarn for fringe. The fringe can be as short as 3 inches or as long as 8 or 9 inches. It's up to you.
We suggest that you knit prayers into your shawl as you knit. Many gather for a collective blessing of the shawl before it is given away. There is no right or wrong way to knit or create these mantles of love and care. Come join us!
Contact: Molly Schneider at mhcsstrong@aol.com or Susan Finlay at swf1958@verizon.net. Many thanks for your interest.

Make it Meaningful...
Be a One Table Café Sponsor

We are now in the season of Lent and for many of us that means giving up something we like or giving up something which causes us pain - moving on and forgetting. Perhaps this year, however, the Lenten season could mean doing something good for someone else or for many others - doing something for the greater good of our community.
Gathering together to ensure a common good for our community is what Trinity's One Table Café is all about. One Table has recently celebrated its first anniversary and is proud of its success. As a result of that success, One Table is now hosting lunches on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's of most weeks, as well as our Friday night dinner on the 3rd Friday of each month.
To be able to continue those meals and to do something for the greater good of our community, we need your support. Please consider becoming an underwriter or sponsor for a One Table event. We have many levels of support and you can always partner with a friend or colleague. The underwriting levels are as follows:
- Major donor: $1,000.
- Lunch sponsor: $500.
- Table sponsor: $100.
- Fixed cost sponsor: $25 - $99.
We also have specific underwriting goals (tangible objects needed primarily to make life in the kitchen more efficient).
As our Curate, Jennifer Replogle said, "something miraculous happens when we break bread and share it." Help us to break bread and share it with others in our community and think of doing something different for Lent this year, your support will make a difference.

Bishop Councell's Visitation May 13 Adults interested in Confirmation, Reception, or Reaffirmation
Bishop Councell will be joining us at Trinity Church on May 13 for a visitation to include the rites of confirmation, reception and reaffirmation. In preparation I asked that you join us each Sunday for the Adult Forum at 10:00 a.m. We are working our way systematically through our Eucharistic liturgy to learn how our liturgy shapes our Anglican identity, our faith and our Christian life. If you are interested, please contact Fr. Paul. |

Let's Do Lunch at Trinity's Popular One Table Café
Beginning Monday, Jan. 30, the One Table Cafe will be open for lunch from 12 noon-1:00pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (with a few exceptions). Just like our monthly dinner program, this is a "pay-what-you-can" restaurant. Besides visiting yourself, and encouraging friends, co-workers, and neighbors to come, you may want to volunteer. Please consider this valuable ministry if you are available from 10:45am till 2:00pm on any of the dates listed here. You can volunteer to come for one day, or on a more regular basis. We will have paid staff to guide you. Contact: Angeline Sturgis, sturgie@hotmail.com

Got Summer Plans?
Consider a Mission Trip to El Salvador
Trinity Outreach is considering another mission trip to El Salvador in summer 2012. The trip would likely be for 7-8 days, including 2 travel days and would be coordinated by our mission partner Cristosal. The trip will involve visiting communities that are working with Cristosal on a variety of community development projects. Families with teens age 16 or older are especially welcome! Estimated cost is $1200-$1500 per person, including airfare, lodging, food, and transporation while in El Salvador. For more information, please contact Diane Paulsell (dpaulsell@gmail.com) or Trisha Thorme ( tthorme@yahoo.com) by January 31, 2012.

Trinity Companions
Trinity's ministry to residents of Merwick Nursing Home has been rekindled, thanks to a number of you who have responded to the Outreach Committee's plea. Already, we hear of the pleasure that these visits bring to people who need companionship and conversation. The number of residents who attend the monthly Eucharist Service has greatly increased. The staff on the floor tell us that our visits have made a huge difference; we see it in the faces of the people we greet. Our visits to residents have been made during the day and early evening, privately in residents' rooms or in the dining room where all gather. We encourage visitors to briefly record their visits in a loose-leaf notebook at the front desk so as to inform other visitors about who was visited and when. Please let us know, if you have not already done so, of your interest in joining Trinity Companions. So far, the following wonderful people have become involved: From the Altar Guild, we thank Mary Alden and Donna Laessig. We thank those who have already volunteered to be companions: Loretta Cooper, Dulcie Bull, Judy Lowry, Leanne Gentile, Robin Gilbert, Thalia Mingo and Don Mann. We thank any of you who would still like to join Trinity Companions. You will find this ministry very rewarding
