| Come, Lord Jesus! Really?
The season of Advent is a time of holy expectation as we prepare for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is experienced each year in the preparation and celebration of the nativity of our Lord. We say things like, "Come, Lord Jesus." But, do we really mean it? Do we really want the Lord to come? If the Lord comes, things are going to be radically changed. The world is going to be turned upside down. Our lives are going to be completely made anew.
What would the world look like if this year the second Advent of our Lord was fully realized? Can you even imagine? Do you dare to imagine? Does this thought bring a sense of hope and joy, or anxiety and perhaps even dread? We say, "Come, Lord Jesus." But, do we really want the Lord to show up? Or, would we prefer to keep things as they are and let the radical change come later? Perhaps it would be best if the world were to be turned upside down on someone else's watch.
When we pray, "Come, Lord Jesus," we are not simply inviting a nice guest to our Christmas party. We are calling for a revolution! We are praying for the world to come to an end as we know it! We are asking for the Kingdom of God to be fully realized.
We better be careful what pray for...it just might happen.
Come, Lord Jesus!
Blessings in this holy season, Paul+
PS - We're close, BUT WE'RE NOT THERE YET. WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP!! Thank you to all those who have pledged their support to Trinity for 2012! If you have not made a pledge, please do so! Our work in vitally important and we need your help! IT TAKES ALL OF US!

Make your Dinner Reservations at the St. Nick Preview Party for our Trinity Church Neighborhood Progressive Dinner
In addition to our traditional silent and live auction items at the St. Nicholas Bazar Preview Party, we are trying something new this year. The Neighborhood Progressive dinner is for Trinity members old and new, for those those that attend regularly or irregularly - or not all, but might want to come back! The goal is to bring unity. Plus friendship and love in an informal, social and enjoyable setting.
For a donation of $25, those that attend the St. Nicholas Bazar preview party on Friday, December 2nd (on line registration is also in the works!) will have the chance to sign up for a Progressive Dinner.
On Saturday, March 3rd progressive dinners will be held throughout the greater Princeton area and organized in such a way that guests can move through the evening to homes located within a reasonable proximity to each other.
We are hoping to have a progressive dinner in each of the following locations - Princeton, Rocky Hill, Belle Mead, Skillman, Hopewell, Pennington, Lawrenceville, Princeton Junction, West Windsor and wherever else there are folks willing to host and attend! Individuals that would like to attend may sign up for any one of the progressive dinners - and will be free to choose a dinner inside or outside their "neighborhood".
The schedule for the evening will be as follows...
- 5:00 Appetizers and Cocktails
- 6:30 Dinner
- 8:00 Coffee and Dessert
For more information, please contact me; and I look forward to seeing you at the St. Nick Preview Party Friday night, December 2nd.

Incredible Turnout for the 4th Annual Trinity Turkey Trot!

WOW! Our goal was to have 1,000 participants and by the final count we had 1,175. Compared to our 700 last year that is an unbelievable result!! That translated into a profit of approximately $22,500 all to be donated in equal amounts to The Crises Ministry of Princeton and Trenton, Housing Initiative of Princeton, and Urban Promise, Trenton. In addition to the money we have helped to raise awareness for theses organizations within our community.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible outpouring of support by the Trinity parishioners, Trinity parishioner sponsors (two), and our corporate sponsors. I want to extend a thank you to all those that helped to make this possible. This includes participants, volunteers, pie bakers, donations (monetary or otherwise), photographers and all our committee members who put in hours of work! With special thanks to: Rev. Paul Jeanes, who was the mastermind behind this event, Mark Hamilton, our former chair without his planning and foresight none of this would have been possible, Ruth Thurmond Scott for her incredible leadership, Annie Thomas, for all her hard work and planning and Bill Hackett who managed to handle a crush of registrations on game day without breaking a sweat!!
As Rev. Paul Jeanes said "we have established Turkey Trot as a new Princeton event". I received an email from one of the participants after the race who commented that she and 7 members of her family participated and planned to make turkey Trot an annual Thanksgiving tradition in her house!!

Staff Christmas Gift
Parishioners have asked if they could express their appreciation to the parish staff at Christmas. After discussing the matter with Paul, I think that what would be most appreciated is a little extra cash.
Parishioners who would like to join this effort should send gifts by check marked "staff Christmas" to Elly or put them in the offering plate. Many small gifts will make a nice gesture. Please get your gift in before Christmas.
We are blessed with a dedicated and hardworking staff that deserves our thanks-and a check is a supplement to, and not a substitute for, a heartfelt "Thank you."

Helpful Information for Trinity's New phones
We wanted to bring you up to speed and hope you have noticed now that calls placed via our telephone system now go where required. I wanted to let you all know a few things about our new telephone system that are different to the previous one: - All extensions have been changed so if you thought you knew the extension, please know they no longer work. A complete list of new extensions is at the end of this note.
- The first extension listed is that used for pastoral care emergencies and so if you have an urgent pastoral care need please do use this extension as soon as you hear it. This is monitored closely by clergy responsible for any particular day.
- This telephone system will transfer all voicemail messages left on the system directly to the email of the person or ministry holding this extension number. It is hoped that everyone calling into the parish offices will feel that they have the same access to clergy and staff as a result of this new facility without needing to have access to a computer to send the email.
- There are some new extensions for the ministries receiving the most frequent traffic and the voicemail-to-email facility will be exactly the same on these extensions: e.g. a call for rummage will be put straight thru to this extension and will be monitored by the team responsible for this ministry.
Extensions are as follows: Clergy Pastoral Care 350 Rev. Jeanes 303 Rev. Gaventa 307 Rev. Replogle 308 Staff Tom Whittemore 316 Elly Matsil 311 Annie Tomas 317 Sam Greenlee 304 Organ Scholars 315 Ministry extensions Archives office 313 Music admin office 314 Altar Guild Sacristy 306 Rummage 351 One Table Café 352 Parish Life 355 St. Nicks 354 Memorial Garden 356 Outreach 357

Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011
8:15-11:30 a.m.
Pierce Hall
Please join us for hot breakfast served all morning by Team El Salvador. Come before or after your preferred church service.

The scale of the disaster is unparalled in recent history and El Salvador has been the most affected country in the region. Trinity Outreach is committed to raising funds for relief efforts and ongoing aid to Foundation Cristosal, our partner in El Salvador.
Suggested donation of $10 per individual and $20 per family (100% of your donations will go to Foundation Cristosal). A challenge grant is also offered to us, as a Trinity family will be matching dollar-for-dollar the first $500 raised over breakfast!

Epiphany Conversations
Beginning January 8th
Beginning on January 8th - the first Sunday after the Epiphany - Dick and Juliana McIntyre Fenn will lead a series of five conversations about the many facets of Epiphany. Epiphanies are turning points when we see ourselves, others and the world around us in a new light... or when we come into a deeper sense of our connection with others or with the cosmos. Epiphanies may also turn us to enter into a new way of life. We will invite participants to explore various Biblical accounts and to share their personal experiences of such revelatory moments. Conversations will take place in the Thomas Room during the Forum Hour: 10:15 - 11:00.

New Adult Education Class on Genesis
Sundays through December 18
10:00 a.m.

A Closer Look at the Beginning: Please join Summerlee Staten, our PTS adult education Seminary intern, for a 9-week class focusing on the first eleven chapters of Genesis. Taking into consideration the development of culture and religion in the ancient Near East, we will explore how the first chapters of the Hebrew Bible may have been understood in ancient times and how we can understand the text today. As we look at each chapter in depth, we will consider what Genesis 1-11 has to teach us about the creativity and faithfulness of God, while acknowledging various interpretations of the text through art, song and contemporary Biblical scholarship. The class will start on Sunday, September 25 in the library at 10:00am.
