Paul at LongportCONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

I asked you to prayerfully consider your support of Trinity Church and YOU DID!!!  Since naming the $50,000 Stewardship Challenge, we have received more than $53,000 of new and increased pledges.  Thank you!!!!  People who had never pledged to Trinity before signed a pledge card.  Others, who had already made their pledge for 2011, increased their pledge.  I feel absolutely overwhelmed with your response and generosity.

What now?!  Well, it's time to roll up our sleeves and get to work.  It's time for us to seriously consider the questions, "What is God calling us to do?  Who is God calling us to be? Where is the Holy Spirit challenging us in NEW and BOLD ways?"  In the words of Meister Eckhart, "What is it that God wants for [us], that [we] do not want for [ourselves]?"

I now ask you to pray!  I ask you to open your heart and soul, and give the Holy Spirit room to work.  Let us heed the words of St. Paul in his letter to the Philippians, "This one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus."  Let us now press on, forward in faith, toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call to be servants of the living God proclaiming Good News to all!!  I can't wait to see what God has planned for us!

Again, sincere and heartfelt thanks!  I am honored and humbled by the trust you have given me to serve as your Rector.

In Christ,

Paul+

PS - This does NOT mean, however, that if you have not pledged there is now no need to do so.  This does not let everyone else "off the hook."  Please still consider a pledge to Trinity Church, there are other obligations outside of our daily operational budget that need to be met.  We still need your support!

Organ-Accompanied Phantom of the Opera
Sunday, February 27

7:00 p.m.

 Phantom of the Opera Mask

Smiles come to everyone's face with just the mention of the 1925 silent movie classic, The Phantom of the Opera, starring legendary Lon Chaney.  Wouldn't it be fun to be able to actually see the movie and hear live improvised organ music the same as audiences experienced years ago?  You will have that chance!

On Sunday evening, February 27th at 7:00 p.m. here at Trinity Church will be a showing of the movie with organist Kevin O'Malia improvising dramatic music.  The event is sponsored by the Central NJ Chapter of the AGO; suggested donation $10, students $5.  Prior to the showing, Mr. O'Malia will briefly explain how he goes about planning his improvisation.  It is a rare feat to be able to improvise interestingly for over and hour and a half, but he can do it!

The event welcomes back to the church Kevin O'Malia as he was the student organ scholar here several years ago.  Currently he is Director of Music at the First United Methodist Church of Germantown, PA, where he oversees a large choral program and a concert series.  A long time affiliate with the Royal School of Church Music in America, he uses its curriculum, Voice for Life, with the Chilrdren's Choir.  A graduate of Westminster Choir College of Rider University, he earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees with honors. In addition to also being the organist at Temple B'nai Shalom in East Brunswick, NJ, he is widely known as accompanist and teacher, and has concertized in the United States, Great Britain and France.

Let's go Uptown!
Reserve by Friday, March 25
Even on Friday, April 15

Lets go Uptown!

Our Choirs will be representing our Choral tradition here at Trinity Church as they sing the Bach, St. Matthew Passion accompanied by the American Classical Orchestra. They will be singing this concert at St. John the Devine Cathedral in Manhattan. So if you fancy an early dinner and a fantastic concert we are now polling for interest from any Parishioners' who think they might like to go to the concert and enjoy the combined efforts of these fantastic Musicians and Choristers. We are suggesting that we take a coach leaving Trinity Church on Friday April 15th at 3pm sharp to avoid tunnel traffic, dropping off outside the Cathedral and picking up immediately following the concert outside the front entrance to the Cathedral for the return trip home. The anticipated cost of this would be no more than $20 each for transport.  We will need a minimum of thirty six persons to make this work.

Tickets for the concert itself can be purchased at http://www.stjohndivine.org/,

Click news and events- Cathedral Calendar- Click the listed concert event then scroll down and click on the purchase tickets link.

Tickets are listed as

  • General admission A = $50
  • General Admission B =$35
  • Students =$15 with Student I.D.

If you should be interested in this please call Annie Thomas 609 924 2277 or email Annie Thomas at thomasa@trinityprinceton.org no later than Friday March, 25th 2011. This is a great opportunity to travel in style without having to worry about traffic, parking or your second glass of wine with dinner!
