Trinity Church E-Pistle June 25, 2009
Forward in faith

Paul's favorite picture

On Saturday, June 13, our vestry gathered at All Saints' Church for a day of retreat and visioning. We reviewed the Task Force Reports and began to prioritize our next steps.  We organized our discussion around staffing changes, ministry and programmatic changes and capital improvements to the physical plant.  We then determined funding sources to be either from regular giving in the annual budget, and those initiatives that could only be achieved through a capital campaign.

Some of the recommendations from the Task Force Reports are already being addressed and will be in place by our fall kick-off.  Other recommendations, however, require more intentional planning and a long-range vision.  To ensure that we proceed responsibly, it is the consensus of the vestry that we secure the services of professional consultants to guide us.  We have a wealth of "in house" knowledge and expertise, but we felt it in the best interest of our common life to use outside consultants.

Consultants are needed to address acoustics and lighting within the sanctuary, landscape, signage and exterior lighting, interior aesthetic, Information Technology  and web site, the organ and liturgical space.   This will give us the information we need to make wise and prudent decisions.  The cost for the consultants could reach $50,000.  Though this is a significant sum, we feel it is the proper course of action to ensure we move forward wisely.  Thus far, we have received $25,000 in support of this effort.  Please prayerfully consider a gift to help us take this most important next step.

Finally, there is the ongoing truth that we need to strengthen our annual stewardship.  The support of every parishioner on an ongoing and consistent basis is vital to our success.  In addition, for our long-term success, we need to raise awareness of planned giving and significantly grow our endowment funds.

The vestry and I will keep you informed as things progress.  My intention is to present a detailed plan in the fall.  During this process, it is our desire to be completely transparent.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.

Thank you for your prayers and support, as together in Christ we move forward in faith.

In Christ,

Paul+

A Message of thanks from  Bishop Councell
Liz Charbonneau & bishop compressed
June 23, 2009

Dear Friends:

This comes to catch you on the way out the door to your Summer- before life's pace in households and parishes changes for a while. It comes with a simple message and heartfelt intent. That heartfelt, simple message is: Thank You

Reflecting upon recent deliberations with our diocesan Task Force on Restructure, let me tell you again what you already know- the economic realities of this year and next are difficult. Despite those realities, I write to encourage you and

Thank You

The Vision Initiative of 2009 for our Diocese is Spiritual Renewal. A clear evidence of spiritual health and spiritual renewal is generosity. The way in which so many have been generous and faithful in their commitments to the ministry of our Diocese is more humbling than words adequately can convey. Personal and corporate sacrifices have been made for this generosity, and I know it. So does the Task Force on Restructure. We need this generosity now and will continue to need it in the future.

A special thanks goes to those parishes that are paying their full Fair Share. I am grateful for such faithfulness that loves God's Church so much. Testimony to the goodness of God in the lives of our parishes is clear.
That's why I'm writing to say

Thank You

Keep well. Rest as you each and all are able. Know that you are and remain close at heart.

There are over 1,000 young men
living in this Youth Correctional Facility 25 minutes from Princeton

AC Wagner Correctional Facility

There is a tremendous need for volunteers to lead a program from 5:30pm to 7:00 pm,
Monday through Friday evenings at AC Wagner Youth Correctional Facility in Bordentown (photo).   The male inmates are from 18 to 32 years old and are eager to have a class in whatever the volunteer would like to teach (onecan tutor one-to-one, or teach a large group working on one subject).  Volunteers can choose what they would like to teach - art, history, GED, singing, composition, etc.   An administrator at AC Wagner will work with volunteers and they are very flexible about the subject matter. The inmates have asked for programming and are eager to participate.  These are forgotten people that need our help.
All volunteers have to clear a background check and materials must be approved as well.

AC Wagner is about 25 minutes from Princeton.  It would be great if two volunteers wanted to teach a class together.
