Denver Studio Complex, L.S.I. and Other Businesses Relocate


After 20 plus years of hosting productions, The Denver Studio Complex and Lighting Services Inc. (L.S.I.) has closed their doors. On Monday April 23rd Lighting Services and Denver Pro Photo moved to their new location, 800 South Jason Street. L.S.I. will still have a 44' x 70' cyclorama sound stage available for rent at their new location.


Big Fish Talent, one of the many businesses that have had to also relocate from The Denver Studio Complex, now resides at 10090 Garrison St. Ste#108 in Westminster. Other film related businesses that once operated in The Denver Studio Complex are still in the process of relocating.  



Incentive Legislation Update

   

On April 30th HB- 1286 was heard in the Senate Business, Labor and Technology Committee and passed with a 5-2 vote. The next day it went forward to the Senate Finance Committee and passed with a 6-1 vote. On Friday May 4th HB-1286 will have a hearing in the Senate Appropriations Committee. 



On Location: Ordway    

 

Ordway is the county seat of Crowley County. The city resides in the southeast plains of Colorado and is primarily agriculture-based.

 

Ordway's downtown and Main Street still have an old-time feel to them, perfect for a period piece or film in need of a rustic/ unique setting. More pictures and information here.

 

 



First Annual Colorado Creative Industries Summit

   

On April 12th and 13th Colorado Creative Industries hosted the first annual Creative Summit. Over 200 people joined the event to for a chance to network with attributing creative's around the state. COFTM hosted two breakout sessions, "Film Finance Discussion" with Donald Zuckerman and "Approaches to Documentary Filmmaking" with donnie l. betts, Mitch Dickman, Lisa Hartman and Daniel Junge. We are already looking forward to next year's summit!

The Colorado Film School Spring 2012 Student Show screening will be held on May 3rd at 7:00 pm inside the Northfield Theatre in Denver (I-70 & Quebec St.). The show will feature films produced by Colorado Film School students.This event is free and open to the public. Come see the best of what our aspiring filmmakers have to offer!

48 Hour Film Project

The 48 Hour Film Project is the world's largest filmmaking competition taking place in nearly 125 cities. The Denver edition of the event (August 3-5) welcomes filmmakers of all levels, actors, musicians and screen writers to create or join a team. Our fearless participants revel in the challenge of creating a 4-7 minute film over the course of a wild and sleepless 48 Hours. Submitted films are judged by a panel of experts and screened for the public at the Gala Premiere on August 12th at the Gothic Theatre. Time to grab your camera. Registration opens May 22nd.

Mountainfilm in Telluride

Currently in its 32nd year, the Mountainfilm Festival is a four-day, six-senses experience of art, adventure, culture and the environment. It attracts filmmakers, photographers, conservationists, mountaineers and explorers from around the world. Their audiences also come from around the world to gather in theaters that range from historical to state-of-the-art in the box canyon of Telluride, Colorado and the gondola-linked town of Mountain Village.
