April 12-13, 2012
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Breckenridge

The Colorado Creative Industries Summit 2012 is an inaugural event of artist-entrepreneurs, owners of creative sector businesses, nonprofit cultural workers and emerging creatives coming together to explore the central theme, Cultivating Common Ground. Throughout the event there will be inspirational speakers and presenters from a variety of disciplines and professional development workshops presented by Colorado creatives who are talented, motivational and successful.

The first day will kick off with homegrown talent and keynote speaker, songwriter Matt Morris, followed by a warm up workshop with actor Birgitta DePree. We then move into several small discussion groups, each facilitated by a pair of Colorado's best and brightest in their fields to address core questions around our theme of "common ground". Upon regrouping, graphic recorder Heather Leavitt Martinez, will take us through a feedback session and visually record the outcome. The day will wrap up with a reception, dinner in town and an exclusive experience in Breckenridge's Art District.

On the second day, participants will have the opportunity to hear the stories of successful entrepreneurial creatives, engage with them in a panel and then in professional development sessions taught by Colorado creatives. The Governor's Arts Award luncheon, presented by Governor John Hickenlooper, will be the culminating event of the Summit. We will celebrate a Colorado town or city that has effectively employed the arts and creative activity as a strategy for community and economic development.
