Financial Support and Incentives
NEA Our Town Grant Guidelines Available
Our Town grants support creative placemaking projects that contribute toward the livability of communities and help transform them into lively, beautiful, and sustainable places with the arts at their core. Our Town will invest in creative and innovative projects in which communities, together with their arts and design organizations and artists, seek to:
- Improve their quality of life.
- Encourage creative activity.
- Create community identity and a sense of place.
- Revitalize local economies.
Pending availability of funding, grants will range from $25,000 to $150,000. Projects may include planning, design, and arts engagement activities that reflect a systemic approach to civic development and a persuasive vision for enhanced community vibrancy. The application deadline is Thursday, March 1. Complete guidelines can be found
here.
NEA staff will be conducting an Our Town webinar Tuesday, February 7 to answer questions and walk applicants through this year's guidelines. Schedule and registration details will be posted on the Our Town guidelines webpage.

National Trust for Historic Preservation Grant Applications Now Being Accepted
Applications are now being accepted for grants from the National Trust Preservation Fund, the Hart Family Fund for Small Towns, the Johanna Favrot Fund for Historic Preservation, and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Fund for Historic Interiors. The application deadline for all four programs is February 1, 2012. Guidelines and links to applications can be found here. (Please note: the Hart Family Fund for Small Towns uses the general National Trust Preservation Fund grant application and follows the same guidelines. Grants from the Hart Fund are awarded to projects in communities with populations of 5,000 or less.)
Colorado Creative Industries Grants Will Delay Deadlines by Three Months
Colorado Creative Industries will delay its traditional spring grant deadline by three months, with applications due by June 21, 2012. Both the Colorado Creates grant for nonprofit organizations and units of government and the Success Through Art (StART) grants for schools will be incorporated into the new annual timeline. Guidelines and criteria for both programs will remain substantially the same as prior years.
There are a number of reasons CCI will readjust the grants deadline, including being responsive to concerns by potential applicants about the spring deadline conflicting with both the National Endowment for the Arts and Scientific and Cultural Facilities District deadlines. In addition, CCI is moving to a new department-wide online grant system, and is also attempting to streamline the award payment process by avoiding conflict with State fiscal year closing procedures.
CCI will consider applications with activities that take place from July 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013. Organizations that have summer projects in 2012 for which they plan to seek funding should contact CCI staff for guidance.
