Final Environmental Impact Statement for Christo's Over the River Project will be Released Soon

In an April 15th statement Bureau of Land Management (BLM) District Director Greg Shoop said that the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Over The River will be released sometime this spring.

"BLM is committed to the completing the EIS in a timely manner. However, the process is not a simple one, nor should it be," said Shoop. "The decision will be based on a complex analysis, which will assist the BLM to determine whether, where and under what conditions the BLM would issue a land use permit." Click here to read Shoop's full statement.

Shoop said the BLM is currently "hard at work" crafting measures to mitigate impacts. Once the Final EIS is completed, it will be made available to the public for a 30-day period. The BLM will then make its final decision this summer through the Record of Decision.
