Governor Hickenlooper Wants Your Input

hick close up

Governor Hickenlooper understands that the number one priority of the residents of the State of Colorado is to rebuild the economy and create jobs. To do this, the Governor's Office and the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade wants to engage Coloradoans in a statewide conversation about Economic Development. Governor Hickenlooper is asking for residents across the State, county by county, to share their stories, challenges, and strengths by developing a strategic economic development plan for their county. To do this work your input is needed.

The Office of Film, Television & Media, a division of the Creative Industries, wants to make sure that your voice is heard. Please fill out the survey here.

Something that hinders production all over the State is "Red Tape". The Governor also needs your input on specific issues you have come upon that have hurt your business or stymied production. Both the survey and the "Red Tape" form are an integral part of the road map that State government will use in planning our economic future; now is your time to be heard. Fill out the Red Tape Form here.

Production Incentive Update

Since 2007, the state has allocated approximately $2.5 million to the Office of Film, Television and Media to fund cash incentives and provide marketing and administrative support to promote the state as a destination for production. To-date, the state has paid over $150,000 in cash incentives, generating over $1.5 million in in-state production and retaining the equivalent of 30 full time Colorado jobs. Four Colorado production companies have benefited from these incentives: Monster Productions, Double-Edge Films, Gaiam, and High Noon Productions. Another 12 companies are in line to receive approximately $1.2 million in cash incentives when their productions wrap up over the next year or two. These companies will generate $12 million in Colorado-based production activities, retaining and attracting the equivalent of another 240 full time Colorado jobs. We look forward to highlighting some of these productions in future e-news. After deducting marketing and administrative expenses, approximately $200,000 remains in the cash incentive fund, and we are continuing to accept applications from prospective productions. For more information about film incentives, contact Elaine Mariner at elaine.mariner@state.co.us.
