A Message from Mrs. Hurley
CEC Winter Break Activities and Hours
Important Dates

Dear ,

I can't believe the holiday season is upon us.  If your kids are like mine, all they can think about is winter break and the presents under the tree!

Please take the time to read Mrs. Hurley's December message below.

The PCR directories are finally here!  I apologize for the long delay, but technical glitches and the power outage added to the delay.  The directories will be delivered via your child's backpack this week. Thank you to Marion and Brent Kuszyk for coordinating.

CEC is open during Winter Break, though not at Palm Crest.  Please read below for dates and location.

I hope your family has a joyful holiday season.  See you  back at Palm Crest on Monday, January 9.

A Message From Mrs. Hurley

On behalf of the Palm Crest teachers and staff, I would like to extend a special thank you to our PTA for the delicious holiday luncheon they provided to our staff this past Thursday.  Thank you to Pati Patao, Crista Murray, and Tara Woodford for hosting this wonderful event.  We are grateful to our PTA for their support and the wonderful events you bring to PCR for our students and staff.

I would like to congratulate all of the upper grade students who participated in their classroom Spelling Bees.  Our top two spellers in each class were: Tommy Salliamonas, Arian Shapourifar, Naomi Kearl, Tyler Williamson, Maddie Miller, Tom McConnell, Solenn Matuska, Ryan Chew, Nare Arakalian, Stefan Markarian, Lisa Toda, Eddie Cosic, Billy Watts, Carolyne Weiss, Madeleine Mertens, Kelly Phelan, Brian Wolhaupter, and Jonah Bernstein. These students will be representing their classes at the PCR Spelling Bee January 17th at 8:30 a.m. in the MPR.  Three winners and a runner up will then be selected to represent Palm Crest at the La Canada District Spelling Bee February 2nd at 6:30 p.m.  Good luck!

This past Friday, PTA acknowledged recipients of their Founder's Day awards.  Congratulations to the following parents and staff members for their dedication to Palm Crest Elementary School; Mr. Craig Gropper, Mr. Fred Serrichio, Mr. John Caire, Mrs. Crista Murray, Mrs. Nancy Leininger, and Mrs. Gretel Ujfalusy.

As 2011 draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families a safe and happy holiday. I look forward to partnering with you in the New Year as we work together to nurture successful, happy learners at Palm Crest.

Sincerely,

Karen Hurley
