A Message from our Crossing Guard |
Dear PCR Parents and Students,
Some current observations and requests from "up on the corner"...
- Sometimes families run late getting to school and look for convenient ways to let their students out of the car. It is NEVER okay to drop off students on the opposite side of the street from where they need to be. It is VERY dangerous. This type of driving behavior can result in harm to the student for sure. These driving events have been observed by other parents with alarm and relayed to me. Also, please do not encourage your children to cross in the middle of the street to reach your vehicle for pickup, again VERY dangerous.
- I understand that the pickup lines are sometimes slow and inconvenient, however, please do not park in the crosswalk to wait for the line to move. I cannot cross the students if you are anywhere in my crosswalk with your vehicle.
- For you moms and dads, sometimes you want to cross yourselves without my assistance. I am there to assist you to cross safely, but when you go it alone, make sure you look directly at the drivers waiting to move before you begin to walk. They don't always see you.
- Please remember to use your turn signal before turning so I can determine where you are going.
- For students, remember to always look both ways before entering the crosswalk. Please don't run and remember if riding a bike, you must walk it in the crosswalk to the other side.
Working together we can make walking to and from school a safe and enjoyable activity.
Your Crossing Guard,
Barbara Carbajal
