Important Dates

Greetings!

We start the month with a Palm Crest PTA meeting this Wednesday at 9:15 in the MPR.  It will be a quick but informative meeting, including a report from our Principal, Mrs. Hurley.  I'll even bring Starbucks!

Please join the kindergarten teachers and school families at Round Table Pizza this Thursday evening starting at 5pm.  If you can't stay for dinner, consider take out or delivery.   Give yourself the night off from cooking!

PCR's Character Asset theme for September was SUPPORT.   Below is a list of the students who exemplified this valuable asset.  October's theme is APPRECIATION.

Mrs. Hurley has some important information to share in her October message.  Please take the time to read it below!

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2011/12 Founders Day Awards. This is a wonderful opportunity to thank and honor those parents, teachers, staff, or group that go above and beyond to make a difference at PCR and an enduring, positive impact on our children.

You can read all about it below or Click Here to down load the informational flyer and nomination form.

LCFEF Jogathon is coming to Palm Crest on November 16.  More details are below.

The yearbook committee is looking for one more parent volunteer to help coordinate pictures from school activities.  If you're interested, please contact Betsy Hall at betsy@rhythm.com.

The very fun family evening Magic Show is back! Save the date for Friday, October 28 at 5:45 to dazzled and amazed by magic!

Have a great week!

MRS. HURLEY'S OCTOBER MESSAGE

Thank you to all who have been following our carline drop-off and pick-up procedures in the morning and after school. We have noticed a marked improvement in traffic flow and safety. We appreciate your continued support and cooperation towards a smooth and safe drop-off and pick-up.

Please note we have made some changes in visitor and staff parking. There are four new visitor parking spots located in front of the main office. All other spots are clearly marked and reserved for teacher and staff use only. If you need to drop something off or attend a brief meeting during school hours, these new visitor spots are ideal to use. If you plan to stay at school for an extended amount of time (ie: volunteering), please consider parking at the old district office.

Picture Day

As many of you already know, we are working with a new photography company this year; Ultimate Exposures. This week, you should be receiving an e-mail, which will include the proofs for the 2 poses taken of your child, a pin number and order information. You will be able to place your order directly through the company's website: www.ultimateexposures.com. Orders may also be placed by phone, mail or fax at:

Ultimate Exposures

7011 Hayvenhurst Avenue, Suite C

Van Nuys, CA 91406

818-781-9531 (fax)

Make-up picture day will be Tuesday, October 27, 2011 from 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Volunteers and TB Tests - We are fortunate to have so many wonderful volunteers. The law states that each volunteer must have verification of being "TB free". This is to protect all the students. Therefore, we are asking volunteers to bring proof of a current (within 4 years) TB test by Friday, October 7th, to be kept on file in the office.

LCFEF JOGATHON

JOG-A-THON  IS GOING GREEN!

November 16, 2011

The LCFEF Jog-a-Thon takes place at school during P.E. Time. Our goal is for all students  to participate and have fun while helping  raise funds for our schools.

Students have 20 minutes to jog/walk as many  laps as they can. Laps are graduated in size by grade level, and joggers will receive water and    popsicles at the event.

This year, family and friends can join the action by pledging money for your jogger's all star effort on our new, interactive website. Save time!     Save paper! Save the planet! All while helping our schools.

The Foundation's fundraising pays for the programs that make the difference in our schools.

-       Additional teachers for smaller classes!

-       Art, music and drama - Technology needs - Guidance and college counseling - And much more!

Look for upcoming announcements and instructions on how you and your child can participate, have fun, and make a difference!
