Greetings!

We are well and truly into 2012 now but a belated Happy New Year to you all. The Marina was a hive of activity over the holiday period; see below for a brief round up of all the fun.

As is usual over summer our guests are very appreciative of the complimentary morning newspapers and coffees delivered to their boats and needless to say "happy hour' with complimentary cocktails is a highlight of the afternoon.

New Years Eve went off with a bang helped along with a fantastic midnight fireworks display – most say the best ever.

We look forward to welcoming all our game fishers to the marina in the coming weeks for the NSWGFA Interclub, and wish them all the very best for a very successful tournament.

Hope to see you all soon and happy boating

Soldiers Point Marina - the only Marina in Low Carbon Economy Directory

Soldiers Point Marina is proud to be the only marina to be recognised in the newly released official Low Carbon Economy Directory. This directory contains a listing of businesses which have been certified under the NoCo2 Certification Program.

Each entity listed in the Low Carbon Directory has had the Carbon Reduction Institute conduct an emissions assessment or life cycle analysis on their business, product or service. Along with identifying areas to reduce their carbon footprint, each organisation has purchased verified carbon credits to offset their impact on climate change. Where a NoCO2 certification is given, the company or product is carbon neutral. LowCO2 certification means the operational impact of the entity has been offset. CNP means the products mentioned are carbon neutral.

“We take our sustainability initiatives very seriously at Soldiers Point Marina and we challenge all other marinas to do likewise “ said Marina General Manager Darrell Barnett CMM.

Soldiers Point Sailing School

The 2012 program has commenced with sessions being conducted with students from St Phillips Senior and Middle School and Tomaree High.

Enquiries are being assessed for an additional session with Home School students and students from Newcastle Schools, as well as adults. The popularity continues with more instructors being trained with Yachting Australia to cope with the demand.

"The most exciting news is the latest addition to the School – an Etchell class yacht "Pacific Edge" which has been generously gifted by the family of a deceased sailor. The yacht is currently moored in Sydney Harbour and will be transported to Soldiers Point Marina in the near future. This yacht will be ideal for training adults and advanced teenage students as well as corporate day sessions" said Graham Oborn the facilitator of the Sailing School.
