Greetings!

Hopefully you have all heard our fantastic news... The Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) awarded Soldiers Point Marina the prestigious title of Australian Marina of the Year for 2011 at the industry's international Marinas 2011 Conference in Melbourne in June.  Having won Marina of the Year in 2007, we are absolutely ecstatic to have won this highly regarded award again. I would like to publicly thank and acknowledge my staff whose hard work and professional assistance helped to make this award possible.

Another exciting piece of news is the commencement of Soldiers Point Sailing School, a program at this stage for children 8+ years... see below for all the details.

There have been a few changes at the marina of late and I would like to take this opportunity to farewell the Forrest family from the Boat Shed & Soldiers Point Boat Hire and wish them well in future endeavours. I also extend a warm welcome to the Kennedy family who have purchased the business (and two others) and have big plans... stay tuned!

Hope to see you all soon and happy boating

Darrell Barnett CMM
Soldiers Point Marina Manager

Easter Complimentary Boat Handling Clinic

This annual event again proved very popular with marina customers.  Local boating expert and member of the water police Brett Allman conducted a very successful Easter Saturday clinic at the Marina for those wanting a few more tips & tricks on safe boat handling. The clinic was attended by over 15 enthusiastic & appreciative Marina customers who also enjoyed a boat ride with Brett as he explained trim tabs, working the tide etc.
A good time was had by all.

The Point Restaurant

Apart from being the premier fine dining restaurant in the bay, The Point also offers exciting monthly special luncheon menus at the very reasonable price of $27.50 per person. Incredibly this price includes beer or bubbles, main course and delicious petit fours to finish.

Seafari - Music on the water

Many boats enjoyed a stunning autumn Easter Day at North Arm Cove for the annual April Seafari. Local duo "Let the Mango" entertained all those on board their boats and was driven around on a pontoon boat by Glenn from Soldiers Point Boat Hire.

Platters of beautiful fresh oysters and prawns were supplied by Holberts and the Easter bunny even supplied some eggs.

Soldiers Point Marina customers, Judy & Alan Davis on Sunsipper got into the spirit and took out first prize for the best dressed boat.

Congratulations Jessica !!

Every year over the Christmas holiday period, the staff at The Deck Café/Waterfront Bar nominates their most polite junior customer and presents them with a special certificate and a voucher to use at the café. Jessica's impeccable manners impressed all the staff and this year it was a very easy decision to select Jessica as their "Marina Girl of the Year". Congratulations Jessica!!

Also next time you are at The Deck don't forget to ask the staff about their winter 20% discount card.
