Greetings!

Christmas is nearly upon us, this will be our last e-newsletter for the year and I hope you have enjoyed all our news of the comings and goings at the marina.

As always we are looking to improve our services and facilities for you, and we hope that you will enjoy the newly created guest lounge/library/business centre on the upper level of the marina building.

Soldiers Point Marina has recently purchased a new very stylish apartment, a convenient three minute walk from the marina which is available for short term rental. You can read more about our Flagship Apartment below.

We've got an action packed time planned if you are joining us over the holiday season. Once again the New Years Eve fireworks have been arranged for midnight and a perfect spot to enjoy them will be from The Point Restaurant and The Deck Café. Details on all the other activities are mentioned below.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe boating summer.

"De-winterise" your engine before summer at Soldiers Point Marine Centre

It is important to have your engine checked after it's been laying idle over the winter period.

To ensure your boat is in full working order, Soldiers Point Marine Centre recommends that you get your engine serviced ahead of time. It's important to change your oil and filters to prevent corrosion and excessive wear that can lead to loss of power, poor fuel economy or engine failure, usually with a boat full of family and guests up visiting on holidays. Call Clive to book in your service on 02 4984 6300.

MDBS -Port Stephens ...Just 12 Days from Listing to Contract!!

A local Markline 900 owner has reason to smile since we found a suitable purchaser in record time. This just supports the notion that a well presented boat, priced sensibly for the market, will sell in a reasonably short timeframe at this time of year. The average time taken to sell boats has been 3 - 4 months, an indicator that the market is far from dead.

The hardstand yard has worked well as a venue to sell trailer boats, with all bar one used boat having found a new owner. The remaining boat is a very smart, near new, 4.8M Bass boat. Fast, beamy and economical it represents excellent value at $18,000. If you are thinking of selling your boat and want results then I'd be pleased to talk with you. Here's wishing you a great summer's boating!

Christmas Symbols and Traditions
Did you know...

Xmas - this spelling is not irreligious. The use of this spelling dates back a long time and comes from the Greek word Xristos meaning Christ. By the 1500s, the term Xmas was used regularly.

Christmas Carols - carolling dates back to Greece and originates in the word choraulien, meaning to "dance to a flute". Later in the Middle Ages it meant, "to sing and dance together" and became linked to Christmas songs.

Christmas Wreath - the custom of hanging a wreath on the front door is borrowed from the ancient Romans who wished each other "good health" by exchanging branches of evergreens. It became the custom to bend these branches into a ring and hang them on doorways.
