Littman Krooks Partners Named
to 2010 "New York Super Lawyers" List

October 6, 2010--Ellyn S. Kravitz, Esq., and Bernard A. Krooks, Esq., partners in law firm Littman Krooks LLP (www.littmankrooks.com), have been named to the 2010 "New York Super Lawyers" list.

It is the fifth time since 2006 that Krooks, one of the firm's founding partners, has received this honor and the second time for Kravitz.  In addition, Krooks appears for the second year running in the 2010 list of top 25 Westchester County Super Lawyers.

Only five percent of the attorneys in the New York metro area are chosen for this honor, the result of peer nominations and review, in addition to evaluations by Law & Politics magazine. The annual listing spans 70 practice areas and identifies individuals who have achieved outstanding peer recognition and professional achievement. Kravitz and Krooks are authorities in the areas of elder law, special needs planning, estate planning, and veterans' benefits. They are two of only 45 individuals in New York State to be certified as elder law attorneys by the National Elder Law Foundation.

"I'm honored to have been named to the list," remarks Krooks.  "With longer life spans and the aging of baby boomers, significant changes are occurring in the American family.  Elder law addresses financial, medical, and emotional issues that are altering family dynamics."  Krooks has testified before Congress and the New York City Council on long-term care issues.

"Being included on the Super Lawyers list is recognition of the importance of our work," notes Kravitz.  "In this economy, it's more important than ever to plan for retirement and the possibility of long-term care.  Failure to do so leaves families even more financially vulnerable during these uncertain times.

Krooks is currently president of the Estate Planning Council of Westchester County, past president of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and Special Needs Alliance, and past chair of the Elder Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.

Kravitz is an active member of the Executive Committee of the Elder Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, where she currently serves as co-chair of the Estate and Tax Planning Committee. She is a member of the Westchester County Bar Association's Elder Law Committee and of the Estate Planning Council of New York City, Inc.
