"Stars over Borrego" Star Party will be January 10 at the Springs |
|

|
USA Today has designated Borrego Springs as one of our nation's top ten stargazing communities - and for good reason. On Thursday, January 10, join popular astronomy author, lecturer and sky photographer Dennis Mammana for a fun-filled tour of the Stars over Borrego, and learn some of the lore and science of what's out there in the cosmos. In January, the eastern sky is ablaze with the brightest stars of the year. This is the time to view such celestial wonders as the colorful stars of Orion and the shimmering Pleiades star cluster(pictured above).
The evening will feature an introductory slide program and talk by Dennis, followed by telescope viewing of the celestial wonders visible that night - star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, planets - weather permitting, of course.
The $10 admission fee includes a snack buffet catered by Kendall's Cafe, hot coffee and cocoa. A no-host bar will be offered by the Borrego Springs Chamber of Commerce.
Tickets can be obtained by calling the Springs golf desk at 760-767-0004.
While it isn't necessary, feel free to bring binoculars and a flashlight covered with red cellophane (to preserve night vision).

| The Springs Staff Greets Our 10,000th Reservation! |
On December 29, General Manger Bob Cooper and his staff were excited to greet Steve and Connie Sanders of Escondido, California, as the 10,000th reservation in the two year history of the Resort. Mr. and Ms. Sanders were each presented with a Springs logo shirt, a free round of golf with a cart, and a bottle of champagne to share in celebration.
The Sanders were surprised by the attention, as Mr. Sanders will attest, "I thought they were joking at first. We never win anything!" | |
