PLEASE FORWARD TO FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES - ** After-summer party - this Thursday ** Chicago fire ** October 23rd - hold the date

OUR PARTY WAS A HUGE SUCCESS
thanks to every one for your support
Honey LaBronx A big thank you to Harris Bloom, Brian Gari, Honey LaBronx, Karen Bergreen and Tom Daddario for donating their time and performing for our party on Thursday, September 13th.

Brian's song "Horse of a Different Color" about the NYC carriage horses is always very moving. He was supposed to perform at our April fundraiser but ended up being hospitalized. His act was followed by Honey LaBronx who had us on the floor with her routine - no more sweet Donna Reed cooking show for her as she channeled a cross between a rapper ho and a mid western gangsta moll. But the surprise of the night was Donny Moss, director of "Blinders, the Truth Behind the Tradition," the documentary about the carriage trade. Donny told us about his campaign to educate New Yorkers about the real dangers of a Christine Quinn mayoralty and then segued the seriousness of his plea into a great stand-up routine.

And thanks to funny man and MC Harris Bloom who is always so accommodating in organizing these events, and Tom Daddario and Karen Bergreen who are new to this issue and did great stand up routines.

More photos are available on No Walk in the Park. on Facebook.

FIRE IN HORSE CARRIAGE STABLE IN CHICAGO
Horses not injured
Brian A fire in a carriage horse stable in Chicago brings to mind one that occurred a few years ago in Chateau Stables on W. 48th St. in Manhattan. As in the NYC fire, "they" say that no horses were injured in the Chicago fire. But what about smoke inhalation? Click here for the story.

While some of the stables in NYC claim to have sprinklers - it is not known whether their systems are adequate. There is no legal requirement for sprinklers. There have been at least two bills in recent years that have required sprinklers in stables and other animal establishments such as pet stores, which did not move in the City Council.

OCTOBER 23RD HOLD THE DATE
Vigil for Charlie
met room Almost one year ago on October 23, 2011, we learned that a horse name Charlie collapsed and died on W. 54th St. on his way to work. Please join with us as we stand together in solidarity to once again ask the Mayor and City Council to put an end to this inhumane and unsafe business. Our event will be in the evening. Details will follow.

PLEASE REMEMBER
Ban the business first! Gambling on the cars will hurt the horses.
A ban of the horse-drawn carriage trade in NYC must NOT be dependent on the success of a private industry - i.e. electric cars. This is why we do not support Intro 86A but do support the Avella/Rosenthal bill in Albany. Sign our petition if you have not already by clicking here. Read my blog to understand why we say this.
