Please join host Maria Milito from radio station Q104.3, our wonderful guests, and members of the Coalition for an inspiring evening as we acknowledge our six-year ongoing, tireless  campaign -  our amazing volunteers and supporters whose  perseverance, resilience and  steadfastness has made this possible - as we  raise necessary funds  to help continue our campaign efforts to enact legislation to ban horse-drawn carriages in New York City.   
GUESTS  (to date) 
Jane Velez-Mitchell - award winning television journalist and author; currently hosts   Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell on HLN; has been an outspoken advocate for animals issues, including the BLM roundup of mustangs and factory farming.  IN 2010, she interviewed Senator Tony Avella on the carriage horse issue.    

Maria Milito  - Host -- has been heard on  NY radio and television airwaves for over twenty years - and on rock station Q104.3 since 1996. She is frequently a guest host on NY1's The Call and  often writes on animal activism with an ongoing blog on her web site. Maria is a big supporter of the ban on horse-drawn carriages.

Senator Tony Avella  - a strong supporter of a ban on horse-drawn carriages since he was in the City Council where  he introduced the first ever bill to ban the carriage industry in 2007.   He introduced a bill to ban horse-drawn carriages into the State Senate  last May.  
Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal  -  also a strong supporter of a ban on horse-drawn carriages. She introduced the companion bill into the NYS  Assembly.  
Assemblymember Alec Brook-Krasny - a sponsor of the bill to ban horse-drawn carriages and believes that  animals should be treated ethically and humanely.
Assemblymember Deborah Glick  - a sponsor of the bill to ban horse-drawn carriages and a long time animal advocate in the Assembly. 
 
Joy Askew  - a singer/songwriter, exceptional vocalist and instrumentalist who is also a tireless animal activist.  She is someone you will never forget.  Joy makes her return engagement to help the horses.    
Brian Gari  - a singer, composer, lyricist , author and long time supporter of a ban on horse-drawn carriages.  Hear Brian sing his very moving song "Horse of a Different Color."
Deborah Thomas -a lyric soprano whose varied repertoire ranges from Opera and Operetta to classic Broadway. Deborah has performed in numerous NYC venues including Lincoln Center. 

The guest list has not yet been finalized.  Other exciting guests will be on hand to offer news and announcements about efforts related to abolishing the inhumane and exploitative horse-drawn carriage industry.

generously donated their scrumptious cuisine    

 and a cash bar for all drinks. 

 

Raffle tickets will be on sale at the event for some terrific prizes.   If you buy your ticket early, you will get two free raffle  tickets.  We will also be selling DVDs of Donny Moss' Blinders:  the Truth Behind the Tradition, a documentary of the NYC carriage trade - and CDs of Brian Gari's
