Classical Music Highlights

Young Audiences has a variety of wonderful programs dedicated to the art of classical music. These programs make classical music an enjoyable and accessible experience for students of all ages. Here are a few to consider:

NESNew England String Ensemble Quartet
String Fever is an introduction to stringed instruments and classical music presented by four members of the New England String Ensemble. Students engage in a musical journey entwined with melodies and harmonies demonstrating how music connects with various subject matter. String Fever explores music as a means of expression and imagination with pieces such as Vivaldi's
Four Seasons, Copland's Rodeo, Tchaikovsky's Arabian Dance, Arlen's Over the Rainbow and the theme to Harry Potter.

 Northwinds
North Winds
The North Winds' program is a great way to introduce a young audience to the unique instruments of the woodwind family. Enjoy five of New England's top woodwind professionals as they perform an engaging mix of pieces from several countries and historical periods. Highlights include the function of each instrument, how each instrument produces sound, and concepts of composition such as melody, accompaniment, and style. The program concludes with a piece that calls on audience volunteers to perform with the quintet in a rendition of "Ragtime Dance" by the legendary Scott Joplin.

  OperaBoston
Opera Boston
Opera delights audiences with its unique fusion of music, text, theater, and visual art. This rich interdisciplinary art form offers students multiple points of entry and engagement, including story creation, communication through song, and the creation of visual arts through scenery, props and costumes.
