Free Student Workshop Winner Announced!

Congratulations to Sarah Lentz!

Sarah Lentz, a kindergarten teacher at Barrows Elementary School in Reading, has won a free workshop for her class. Classical Indian Dancer, Tara Ahmed, performed her Taal Tales program at Barrows this winter for K-1 students. Sarah was entered into the workshop drawing after she submitted a YA performance evaluation following the performance.

Teacher feedback provided through our performance evaluation helps us to maintain the quality and relevance of our programming. A second drawing to win a student workshop will be held on July 5th.

Workshops offer students the opportunity to work closely with the teaching artists they saw perform on stage. Activities focus on select concepts presented during the assembly program.

Please encourage teachers to complete and send in performance evaluations for a chance to win a free workshop!

New England String goes "Looney"

See String Fever at the Classical Cartoon Fesitval

On March 31st, the New England String Ensemble Quartet will perform their YA program, String Fever, at 99.5 WCRB's Classical Cartoon Festival. This is the ensemble's 3rd year participating in the festival which is held at Symphony Hall. String Fever engages children in a musical journey entwined with melodies and harmonies demonstrating how music connects with various subject matters. String Fever explores music as a means of expression and imagination with pieces such as Vivaldi's Four Seasons, Copland's Rodeo, Tchaikovsky's Arabian Dance, Arlen's Over the Rainbow and the theme to Harry Potter.
