Skin Tip
I know I'm always preaching about sunscreen and not going to the tanning salon on a regular basis and that probably gets annoying, but today one of my clients came in and told me she was diagnosed with MELANOMA! Melanoma is the most deadly form of skin cancer. She is young and darker skinned. She has no family history of skin cancer. She tanned regularly, outside and in a tanning booth. She had a mole on the back of her leg that had been there for years. She didn't notice any change in the mole and it didn't look like any of the scary pictures on the internet. She decided on a fluke to get a mole check when she went to her dermatologist. Her dermatologist decided to biopsy that mole. It turned out to be a biopsy that saved her life. She now has a scar that is a couple of inches long on the back of her leg. For women, the legs are the number one area for melanoma.
A mole check takes about 15 minutes and is painless. So please pay attention to your skin, use sunscreen regularly, stay away from tanning booths and if you really need that deep tan look, the newer self tanning products really do a pretty good job. We carry a nice selection of those self tanning products and of course the best sunscreens on the market. |
