Retinoids, the active ingredient in products such as Tretinoin, Retin-A, and Renova have been around since the 1970s, yet continues to be the most effective topical anti-aging ingredient.  Retinoids have been shown to smooth fine lines, reduce pore size, brighten and even out skin tone, stimulate collagen, and reduce acne breakouts.  One of the most common misconceptions is that there is no difference between OTC retinol and retinoic acid prescriptions.  However, retinoic acid Rx is 10-15 times more potent, making it much more effective.  It absolutely should be a part of any anti-aging skincare regimen.  A helpful tip when starting out is to apply gradually with a thin layer two to three times a week to reduce irritation.  Always use UV protection while using any anti-aging product!
