Fabulous Fringe--Bangs are Here to Stay
While some of the recent trends for haircuts come and
go, bangs are definitely here to stay. No matter what your
face shape, your hair type, or your personal style, there is
a style of fringe that will look fantastic on almost anyone!
Is it right for you?
**Besides masking a large forehead, bangs cut straight
across suit faces with strong features.
**Side-swept fringe is slimming on full faces.
**Straight and chemically relaxed hair are both ideal; the
smooth texture allows the bangs to fall onto your face in a
flattering way.
**If your hair is curly or thick, avoid short bangs. Instead,
keep them right above your lashes so they won't rise up.
**If you have a heart shaped face you are lucky
enough to be able to pull off a wide variety of bangs
because people with heart shaped faces often have a
higher forehead than other face shapes. Heart shaped
faces often have sharp chins, so you will want a bang
style that accentuates your eyes and cheekbones not
your chin.
The only downside to bangs: You'll need to keep them
trimmed frequently by a stylist--generally every two to
four weeks.

Rose Growing Tips
Want to add more roses to your landscape this year?
Often called the Queen of flowers, roses have played
a starring role in gardens for centuries. But, contrary to
what you may have heard, many roses don't require
royal treatment to keep them in top form. In fact, it's
really easy to create a rose garden that blooms all
summer with only minimal attention from you. Here are
some tips to get you started.
1) Roses are sun worshipers. Be sure to plant them
where they'll receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a
day.
2) Eliminate weed competition by spreading a three or
four inch mulch of shredded bark or other material under
your roses. Because roses have shallow root systems, it's
best to use a long-handled cultivator instead of a
traditional hoe.
3) Good air circulation is essential if you want to keep
your roses in top form. Find out how large your plants will
be at maturity and space them accordingly.
4) Do a soil test before you plant. Soil pH is an important
aspect of keeping roses, or any other plant, happy and
healthy. For roses, the ideal pH is between 5.5 and 6.6.
You can use a kit to test your own soil.
5) During dry periods, water your roses in the morning so
the plants have time to dry out before nightfall. A drip
irrigation system is probably your best bet because it
delivers water directly to the root zones of the plants and
it does not wet the plants' foliage.
