You're Blushing
Tried and true application and shade tips that will bring some color to your face beautifully.
Choose a color that resembles the flush in your
cheeks after you exercise or have a good laugh.
This
will invariably be "in tone" with the natural undertones
of your skin.
Blush should be the last step in your makeup
routine, but if you want to tone down your blush
and make your look softer, apply your pressed powder
after your blush.
Color looks most natural when applied to the
apples
of your cheeks. That '80's cheekbone stripe is
most
definitely outdated.
Powder blush is optimized for oily skin
because it absorbs oil.

Here are some tips to combat the winter itch:
- Avoid long showers or baths, use warm
water, not hot, and try not to use scented soaps or
detergents.
- Drink plenty of water, not soda or
caffeinated beverages.
- Apply a moisturizer after you take a bath or
shower. This will help keep your skin hydrated.
- Don't wear wool or other scratchy
materials against your skin.
- Consider getting a humidifier during the
heating season, or use the time-proven method of
keeping pots filled with water near the heating vents to
increase the moisture in the air.
- Stop licking those chapped lips!

Shoe Trends for 2009
Stilettos: If you struggle with the ergonomics of a
stiletto, look for those with hidden platforms that
lighten the heel height.
Mary Janes: Double, triple, quadruple straps, hidden
platforms, bright colors, and even the occasional
peeked-toe will bring Mary Janes alive in 2009.
Square-toed pumps: These are everywhere, and you'll
see varieties like the square-toe peep-toe, as well as
some with color-blocking and mixed textures.
Lace and lace-up: Lace-up booties made their trendy
debut last season, but Winter 2009 is where they will
really shine.

Toolbox Brush Up
Good brushes are essential for applying powder blush and highlighter. Some things to keep in mind when looking and caring for your brushes:
- Quality brushes are the way to go and though they
cost a bit more, it will be worth it. These brushes tend
to be dense, so they hold more makeup pigment.
- Wash your brushes! We can all get lazy about this,
but it is important! Especially if you tend to break out,
it's essential to keep your face brushes clean.
Washing your brushes weekly should do the trick.
