Celebrate international & cultural diversity
 Join us for the 2012 Festival of Nations to celebrate the cultural diversity of Prince George's County! Stop by Tucker Road Athletic Complex on May 20 between 12 noon and 5 pm (rain or shine) for this terrific event. International food, crafts, customs and traditions will be featured. Enjoy festive performances, visual and performing arts, games, vendors, displays, exhibits, craft sales, and more. Admission is FREE; nominal fees charged for some activities and concessions. Be entertained by storytelling performances
 Watkins Nature Center in Upper Marlboro presents a storytelling performance of "Coyote Gets A Cadillac" on May 19 from 6:30-8 pm. Coyote and some of the world's greatest characters from oral traditions will be brought to life in the language art of storyteller Susan Strauss. Enjoy stories from a variety of cultures, including some of Strauss' renowned Native American Coyote Trickster Tales. All ages; reservations and advance payment are required. Learn more.

Donate new or gently used books
 M-NCPPC needs your help in collecting books for this summer's Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.) program. From now through May 31, please donate a new or gently-used book at one of our assigned central area locations in Prince George's County. Your donations are greatly appreciated as they will help our summer participants reach their goal of reading two hours per week! Learn more.

Participate in fun, safe aquatics activities
 In observance of "National Water Safety Month," the Department of Parks & Recreation is hosting several FREE water safety events this month. These FREE programs include an interactive, aquatics education session, water safety programs for youth and individuals with disabilities, introductory swim lessons, a home pool safety workshop, info sessions on how to become a certified Water Safety instructor, and more. Programs are being conducted at aquatics facilities throughout the county. Learn more.
