Fall Registration Starts Next Week
fall guide 2011 cover Take a look at the Fall issue of the Guide to Parks and Recreation activities on line - you can "thumb through" a virtual edition of this publication which lists fall classes and activities.  Sign up for a fitness class, swim lessons, or a trip just for fun!  Registration for Prince George's County residents begins Monday morning, August 15.
16th Annual Battle of Bladensburg Encampment
battle of bladensburg Bring the family to join British and American War of 1812 troops Saturday, August 13, from 12 noon - 4 pm, as they camp on the lawn to prepare for battle. You too could be recruited to join the American militia! There will be children's activities and live music throughout the afternoon. Admission is FREE. Refreshments will be available for purchase. National Public Lands Day Volunteers sought
national public lands day National Public Lands Day (NPLA) is the largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands that Americans enjoy every day. M-NCPPC's Park Rangers, along with dedicated volunteers, are proud participants in this day of service and provide a variety of activities throughout the day. To volunteer, click here.

End of Summer Pool Schedules
teen swimmers There is still time to beat the heat this summer! All outdoor pools will close for the season at 7 pm on Monday, September 5. Be sure to get your last few laps of the summer in while you can! To prepare for the fall season, some M-NCPPC indoor pools will be temporarily closed for maintenance.
