 | Health and fitness for young ladies
| The Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex (Landover) is offering a 6-week fitness and nutrition program for young ladies ages 12-16. The Pretty Girl S.W.A.G. (Supporting Wellness & Aerobics for Girls) program (SMARTlink #638514) includes dance/fitness classes, nutrition workshops, and self-esteem support sessions.  Prince George's County youth, ages 8-18, are invited to enter the new "Picturing Prince George's" Photo Contest. Take and submit a photo that captures what you believe makes Prince George's County interesting and special. The contest is open for submissions from June 20-July 22, 2011. Read more.

 | Vote for our parks | Coca-Cola has launched its second annual America Is Your Park campaign. From now through September 6, you can go to LivePositively.com and vote for your favorite national, state or local park. The winning park will receive a $100,000 grant and the title of "America's Favorite Park." Visit parks throughout Prince George's County and enjoy the great outdoors so you can select a favorite. |
 | Tuesdays are terrific this month | Terrific Tuesdays at Watkins Regional Park (Upper Marlboro) run from 5:30-8:30 pm each Tuesday in July (weather permitting). Guests can enjoy an evening of outdoor fun including unlimited rides on the train and carousel, as well as miniature golf, for one special price per person ($5/person for residents and $6/person for non-residents). | Shakespeare in the Parks 2011 features As You Like It presented by The Maryland Shakespeare Festival this month. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a FREE performance at any of the five sites where the show will be performed.  | July is officially Park and Recreation Month

 Since 1985, America has celebrated July as the nation's official Park and Recreation Month. This year's theme is "Rock Your Park!" Step outside and take a hike, enjoy a swim, play tennis, ride your bicycle, jump rope, play golf, or have a picnic at a beautiful, M-NCPPC park in Prince George's County. Use the Find a Park feature at www.pgparks.com to find a park with the amenities you enjoy.
