The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission has lots for everyone to enjoy here in Prince George's County. Find out about the Healthy Minds Healthy Bodies program for veterans who've returned home with disabilities. Audition for the Teen Vocal Showcase. Ice skate and enjoy a discounted rate. Sign up for spring break day camps and summer day camps, playgrounds or teen centers. Plan a very special children's birthday party. A special fitness initiative for military personnel returning home with disabilities
PGS&LCRecognizing the challenges faced by veterans returning home with disabilities, M-NCPPC will be launching a new, FREE program, Healthy Minds Healthy Bodies, to qualified veterans. All stakeholders interested in supporting veterans who have returned from Iraq and/or Afghanistan with disabilities are invited to attend an information session about this initiative. Please join us on Thursday, April 7 from 10 am-12:30 pm at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex (Landover) to learn more. Lunch will be provided. If you plan to attend, please RSVP on or before April 6 to 301-446-3400. 
Last call to audition for the Teen Vocal Showcase

There are lots of talented young singers in Prince George's County...  are you/do you know one of them? Enter the Xtreme Teens Rising Stars Vocal Showcase competition, and you could be named one of the top singers in the county, plus take home a cash prize! The event is open to singers ages 10-13 and 14-17. To audition, you must be a Prince George's County resident, prepare two songs - one slow song and one fast song - to demonstrate your vocal versatility and range, and bring music to the audition. The last auditions will be held on Friday, April 8, 6-9 pm at Lake Arbor Community Center (Mitchellville). To schedule an audition call 301-853-2005.
Take part in a healthy, family walking program
walkersRegistration is now open for the Wal-Kin' on Sunshine program - a family walking program that runs through late May. Attend group walks on Saturdays, beginning at 9:30 am from Largo/Kettering/Perrywood Community Center, and walk through Watkins Regional Park. During the week, walk on your own with your "kin" and record your steps. The program fees are $10/person for residents and $12/person for non-residents. Super Saver skating at Tucker Road Ice Rink 
ice skating 3On Saturday, April 9, Tucker Road Ice Rink (Fort Washington) will be celebrating spring with a super saver rate for the public skating session that runs from 8-10 pm. Admission plus skate rental will be only $4/person so come by, ice skate and celebrate spring. For more information call 301-2565-1525.

spring flowersWhat have you got planned for spring break? Spring break day camps will be held at M-NCPPC sites throughout Prince George's County for youth ages 6-15 from April 18-April 22. Choose from camps that focus on sports, dance, gymnastics, general recreation, swim and travel, challenging outdoor adventures, river adventures, theatre or video games. College Park Aviation Museum is a special place for a birthday party

There are still openings at great summer camps
2boys_sitting_wallLooking for places where your children will be engaged in fun, healthy, interesting summer activities? It's not too late to register for some terrific summer day camps, playgrounds or Xtreme Teen Centers. The Brentwood Arts Exchange, for example, has openings in it Creative Expressions art camps, where youth (ages 7-10 and 11-13) will pursue a variety of artistic media integrated with themes including fantasy, animals, nature and adventure.
