The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission has lots for everyone to enjoy here in Prince George's County. Live more, play more at the park and recreation facilities in your community. collegePrince George's County residents ages 13-17 are invited to travel to Tarboro, North Carolina for an exciting, all-day educational opportunity. The trip leaves from Harmony Hall Regional Center at 4 am on Saturday, March 12 and returns at approximately 10 pm. Speak with college/university representatives and interview with school recruiters. Some students may be offered admission on the spot and some may receive scholarship offers. Seniors, please bring five sealed official high school transcripts. All application fees will be waived!  Special guest speaker Kim Coles will make a presentation. Lunch is included. Attendees must have an M-NCPPC Youth ID card. The program fee is $40/person and you may register for activity # 546514 through SMARTlink. For information call 301-203-6000.

wood carving toolsThe Saturday, March 12 is Hands-on-History Day at Montpelier Mansion (Laurel) from 1-4 pm. Children are invited to be a woodturner's apprentice!  See how chairs are made on a lathe, and help make them. The fee is $5/child and reservations are recommended. mardi gras beadsBeltsville Community Center is hosting a Spring Bling Mardi Gras Skate for youth ages 10-17. Stop by on Saturday, March 12 from 7-10 pm and enjoy roller skating, mask decorating, games, beads and food. Admission is FREE with a valid M-NCPPC youth ID card, or $2/resident and $3/non-resident without the card. For information call 301-937-6613.
Leap with leprechauns more
cloversMay the luck of the Irish follow you all year long. Children ages 3-10 are invited to the Leaping Leprechauns program at Snow Hill Manor (Laurel) on Sunday, March 13 from 3-4 pm. Help find a pot of gold and create fun, St. Patrick's Day crafts. Fees are $1/resident and $2/non-resident.  Call staff at 301-725-6037 to register for the green fun!

flea marketAttention shoppers! Good Luck Community Center (Lanham) is hosting its semi-annual indoor flea market on Saturday, March 19 from 9 am-1pm. Over 40 vendors will be participating in a Truly Tasteless Treasure Contest. People of all ages are welcome to attend and it's FREE for shoppers! For more information call staff at 301-552-1093.

darnalls chance museumAdults are invited to attend a Colonial Tavern Dinner at Darnall's Chance House Museum (Upper Marlboro) on Saturday, March 19, from 7-9 pm. Be our guest as we recreate the atmosphere and flavor of a mid-18th century tavern dinner in Upper Marlborough. Enjoy cider and ale. Following dinner, listen to Ship's Company sing sea chanties and tavern songs of the period. Capacity is limited; reservations and payment required in advance. Seniors ages 60 & better are cordially invited to attend the 2011 Hat and Tea Social at the elegant Prince George's Ballroom on Wednesday, March 23 from 10:30 am-1 pm. Enjoy a tasty assortment of teas, pastries and tea sandwiches aw well as live entertainment. Be sure to wear your favorite beanie, beret, top hot, cap or bonnet. Participate in the parade of hats and you just may win a prize. Fees are $15/resident and $18/non-resident; registration is required and is now being accepted.
