day camp kidsSummer Day Camp registration begins at 9 am on Saturday, February 26 for Prince George's County residents. Now is the time to plan ahead so you're ready when registration starts. Read more here about the terrific summer camps being offered, browse camps that interest your children and meet your family's scheduling needs, and make note of the camp barcode numbers, the participants' SMARTlink barcode numbers, and your PIN number. hula hoopingThose ages 13 & up are invited to participate in a FREE Latin Hula Hoop Demo at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex (Landover) on Tuesday, February 22 from 8-8:45 pm in Studio B. This healthy workout features Latin moves and weighted hula hoops to help slim and tone your body. This new spin on exercise provides an unbelievable workout that is really fun. Please do not eat a heavy meal before this program. For more information call 301-583-2400.

love to danceRegister for the LOVE2DANCE SUMMIT FOR TEENS, a terrific program for dancers ages 12-18.
Share your love of dance with other teens at Joe's Movement Emporium (3309 Bunker Hill Road, Mount Rainier, 20712) on Saturday, March 5, from 9 am-3 pm. Enjoy fun, informative dance workshops, performances, and sessions about great opportunities in the field of dance. To register, complete the Summit for Teens registration form. Note: The registration deadline is Saturday, February 26. The fee ($15/person; $10/person in groups of five or more) includes all workshops plus box lunch and souvenir bag. Montpelier Mansion exteriorOn Sunday, February 27, Montpelier Mansion (Laurel) is hosting its Annual George Washington Musicale at 2 pm (no snow date) for those ages 12 & up. Drawing on an impressive variety of ethnic folk styles, Simple Gifts plays everything from lively Irish jigs to hard-driving Klezmer frailachs and haunting Gypsy melodies. See this award-winning trio play an amazing array of instruments and songs from around the world. Tickets are $10/Friends of Montpelier members and$15/non-members. Rising Star logoThe 2011 Xtreme Teens Rising Stars Vocal Showcase will be held at University of Maryland Kay Theatre on Saturday, May 14. Ladies and gentlemen ages 10-17 who are residents of Prince George's County are cordially invited to audition for the 2011 Xtreme Teens Rising Stars Vocal Showcase. Both soloists and musical groups may audition. Those who make the cut will have the opportunity to perform in the Showcase at Kay Theatre and compete for prizes ranging from $250-$1,000. Surratt House facadeThe Conspirator, a new film directed by Robert Redford, will be distributed for theatrical release this spring. The movie focuses on the trial of Mary Surratt, who was tried and convicted of conspiring with John Wilkes Booth, President Abraham Lincoln's assassin. Be sure to visit and tour the Surratt House Museum, the 1852 farmhouse of Mary and John Surratt, to learn some fascinating history and find out how the Surratt House is infamously connected to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
