Audition for a spectacular dance performance more
World Dance Showcase performersCalling all dancers ages 16 & up! Auditions for the World Dance Showcase will be held on Sunday, January 16, at the Publick Playhouse. They are open to performers of traditional, culture-specific dance styles; dance groups from any country/culture are urged to respond. Any traditional dance composition, not exceeding 15 minutes, may be presented. Work must be auditioned in finished form with costumes and props. Six dance groups will be selected to perform in concert on March 19 and selected groups will receive an honorarium of $500. Auditions are by appointment only and the deadline to schedule an audition is January 12. There is no fee to audition. Read more here or call 301-446-3232 for information.

Martin Luther King JrOn Monday, January 17, Seat Pleasant Activity Center is hosting a special, FREE program from 1-4 pm for people of all ages. A Man of Vision, Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will feature dramatic readings, music and dance. For more information call staff at 301-773-6685.

flea marketMake someone else's treasures yours or sell items you're no longer using. Hillcrest Heights Community Center is hosting an indoor flea market on Saturday, January 22 from 10 am - 2 pm. If you'd like to be a vendor, the fees are $10/table for residents and $12/table for non-residents. Call staff at 301-505-0896 now to reserve your vendor space and table. Shoppers, mark that date and stop by to see if you can find something special to purchase.

Be sure to stop by Patuxent Community Center's FREE Class Showcase anytime from 12 noon - 4 pm. Learn about the fun, exciting happenings at the center and see demonstrations of some of the great recreation classes being offered. Speak with teachers about academic enrichment classes and have your blood pressure tested. nycTravel aboard a coach bus for a special trip to New York City that's scheduled for Wednesday, February 23 from 5:30 am-10 pm. Take a private tour of the Studio Museum in Harlem, dine on some of the best home-style Southern Cuisine that Harlem has to offer at Amy Ruth's, and enjoy the award-winning Broadway musical Memphis at the Shubert Theatre. Fee includes transportation, lunch and show tickets; fees are $128/person for residents and $154/person for non-residents. Trip leaves from and returns to Bladensburg Community Center. Mis Quince AneosYoung ladies ages 13-15 are invited to sign up for the Mis Quince A�os program! Participate in workshops (etiquette, dance, health & fitness, college preparation, and personal development) and a service learning project. Prepare for a magnificent spring Quincea�era celebration. Classes begin Monday, February 28 and meet at Langley Park Community Center for 8 consecutive weeks (Mondays & Thursdays, 7-8:30 pm). Sign up for SMARTlink course #410118.
