Teens... take action more
teens in a groupTeens and Jeans is the Xtreme Teens Program's annual campaign to empower teens to take action against homelessness during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, November 14-20. The campaign includes a week-long clothing (jeans) drive, and a Walk-a-thon on Saturday, November 20 at Bladensburg Waterfront Park (beginning at 10 am). Teens are encouraged to collect clean, gently worn jeans of all sizes and drop them off at any M-NCPPC community center through Thursday, November 18. Jeans can also be brought to the Walk-a-thon. Donations will be distributed to organizations and shelters throughout the area. We encourage schools and youth organizations to participate in the campaign. Groups can register for the clothing drive online here. Individuals collecting jeans do not need to register. Groups and individual participants can both pre-register for the Walk-a-thon online. For more information about the clothing drive or Walk, call 301-927-2163 or e-mail synergyteens@pgparks.com.
