The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission has lots for everyone to enjoy here in Prince George's County. Live more, play more at the park and recreation facilities in your community. Volunteer for a playground rebuilding project. Attend some scary or non-scary Halloween events. Come to an open house at Tucker Road Ice Rink, learn about the Teen Cotillion program, and mark your calendars for an upcoming food and fitness expo. Explore the park system and enjoy the social, healthy, fun recreation programs and activities.

 | Volunteer more | Bond Mill Elementary Playground Build, an all-volunteer project to rebuild the (Laurel) school's 40-year-old playground and install terrific new equipment, is seeking 150-200 volunteers over a five-day period - Wednesday, Nov. 3-Sunday, Nov. 7. Individual volunteers and organizations that can put together a team to contribute at least half a day to the build are needed. Minimum age for those on the construction site is 15; parents must sign waivers for those under the age of 18. Youth ages 12-14 can volunteer to help with food service, child care and other tasks. Students can earn service learning credits for their volunteer assistance. Log on to www.bondmillpto.org for detailed information including registration options. |
 | Explore haunted hotels and trails more
| Come one, come all (ages 6 & up), if you dare! Temple Hills Community Center is hosting the Down South Haunted Hotel & Trail. See what awaits you in the hotel and walk along the haunted trail. You can also enjoy games, arts & crafts and refreshments. The haunted hotel and trail will be open from 6-9 pm nightly from Wednesday, October 27- Sunday, October 31.  | Enjoy non-scary Halloween celebrations more
| Clearwater Nature Center (Clinton) and Watkins Nature Center (Upper Marlboro) are both hosting non-scary Halloween events on Saturday, October 30 from 12 noon- 3 pm. Enjoy non-haunted hayrides, crafts, roasted marshmallows and hot cocoa at a campfire and meet live, fun creatures at Clearwater's Kooky Not Spooky event. The fee is $3/person and the program is for children ages 7 & under. Join a naturalist at Watkins Nature Center for the Halloween Harvest program, a non-scary autumn celebration featuring puppet shows, an animal show, crafts and more.  | Experience Tucker Road Ice Rink more | On Saturday, October 30, Tucker Road Ice Rink is hosting it annual Open House from 1-3 pm. Stop by to enjoy FREE public skating, a figure skating exhibition, a hockey shootout raffle, and FREE giveaways and candy. | Prince George's County young ladies and gentlemen (ages 14-17)... are you interested in participating in a once-in-a-lifetime program? The Teen Cotillion is a 16-week program that features workshops, cultural activities, trips, dance instruction, a service learning volunteer project and more. Parents and teens are invited to the Teen Cotillion interest meeting on Wednesday, November 3 from 7-9 pm at the Prince George's Ballroom (Landover). | Mark your calendars now for the 6th Annual FREE Prince George's County Holiday Food and Fitness Expo scheduled for Saturday, November 6 from 9 am-2 pm. Stop by the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex during that time to learn what you can do to promote great mental and physical health. FREE walk-in flu vaccinations for those ages 6 months & up will be offered; children under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian to receive a flu shot. Visit the on-site vendors and explore great ways to promote healthy eating and fit lifestyles for yourself and your family. Participate in aerobic exercise.
