Greetings! The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning
Commission has lots for everyone to enjoy here in Prince George's County. Live
more, play more at the park and recreation facilities in your community. Sign
up for a recreation class. Enjoy a live, FREE musical performance or two. Mark
your calendars for an upcoming open house at Cedar Heights Community Center. Explore
the park system and enjoy the social, healthy, fun recreation programs and
activities.

Participate in park and recreation programs more
| Open a FREE SMARTlink account and do business with the Prince
George's County Department of Parks and Recreation at your convenience! After you open your SMARTlink account,
you'll be issued bar codes and pin numbers to register for classes, programs
and special events online or via touch-tone phone. Opening an account for every
family member is easy; just stop by any staffed M-NCPPC facility in Prince
George's County with acceptable documentation showing residency and age. Registration
for fall classes begins Monday, August 16 for Prince George's County residents,
and Monday, August 23 for all others. Read more here about becoming a

Start planning for after-school fun more
|
Kids' Care
After-School Programs are licensed, child care programs held at M-NCPPC sites
throughout Prince George's County. These programs provide
after-school, structured recreation activities in the areas of sports,
arts and crafts, reading, storytelling, music, film, drama, science, nature,
special events and more. Prince George's County residents enrolled in
kindergarten through grade 6 who are between the ages of 5 and 12 (must be
age 5 by August 31, 2010) are eligible to enroll in these programs. Programs
operate in conjunction with the Prince George's County Public Schools'
calendar; when county schools are closed for full days, Kids' Care is

Play fall baseball more
|
Youth ages 10-18 are invited to join a fall baseball league. What a
great opportunity for teams to work on fundamental skills, have fun and make
strides in preparation for spring baseball. The fall baseball season
begins on Sunday, September 12; games will be played at various parks in the
county. Teams will play for 8 weeks; please note: the registration deadline is

Enjoy evening concerts in
the parks more
|
This week's lineup of musical performances in the parks is
sure to please everyone's taste. The Let it Flow Band (R&B) will give a
FREE performance at Stephen Decatur Community Center on Wednesday, August 18 at
7:15 pm. The Buck Hill Quartet will give a FREE performance on the lawn at
Riversdale House Museum on Thursday, August 19 at 7 pm. M-NCPPC and Beltsville
Recreation Council invite you to see Ndelible perform for FREE at Beltsville
Community Center on Saturday, August 21 from 7-9 pm as part of the Jazz Under

Carve out your path to
success more
| Positive Pathways for Pre-teens is an exciting, co-ed,
10-week program for Prince George's County youth ages 10-13. The program runs
from mid-September through mid-November and is offered at three different sites
- South Bowie, Vansville and Tucker Road Community Centers. Skilled instructors will lead youth in fun recreational, educational activities that
support positive personal growth and promote greater self-confidence. The
10-week program fee is only $50/person. Read all about this great program here;

Attend
open houses more
| Cedar Heights Community Center is hosting a FREE Open House on Saturday,
September 4, from 10 am-2 pm. Enjoy FREE demonstrations of programs including
hand dance, Pilates, Zumba, toning and sculpting, Spanish and aerobics. Get a
"sample" of some of the great fall classes being offered at the center.
